For 1985, it was done in a different style. The various models were not broken out as per optional accessories. Furthermore, I was never able to obtain exterior color usage numbers for the 1985s'
Here we go:-
18,654 Mercury Capris' bore 1985 Titles, some having been built in calander year 1984 and the remainder having been built in 1985.
The following numbers are "OF" the 18,654 total.
04,869 had the 302 V-8 Engine (26.10% RS/GS? see below)
02,369 had 3.8 Litre Six Cylinder (12.70% GS)
11,416 had the standard 2.3 Litre Four Cylinder (61.20% GS)
09,028 had 3-Speed Automatic Transmission (avail. on GS only) (48.40%)
04,757 had 4-Speed Manual Transmission (avail.on GS only) (25.50%)
03,283 had 5-Speed Manual Transmission (RS only) (17.60%)
01,586 had 4-Speed Automatic with Overdive (RS only) (8.50%)
14,382 had a solid steel roof (77.1%)
02,873 had Manual Pop-Up Sun Roof (15.40%)
01,399 had T-Tops (7.5%)
14,254 had Speed Control (76.41%)
12,573 had Air Conditioning (67.40%)
13,543 had Power Door Locks (72.60%)
12,591 had Am-Fm Stereo Radio (67.50%)
05,354 had a Cassette Player (28.70%)
00,709 had the Radio DELETE option (3.80%) (150 of these 709 were built to D32 Specs to become ascMcLaren Coupes).
00,559 had the Radio DELETE option (3.00%) that were NOT destined to become ascMcLaren Coupes)
00,407 were built to Code D32 "ascMcLaren Conversion Specs" (2.2%)
05,634 had Whitewall Tires (avail. GS only) (30.20%)
03,152 0f the GS Models had the optional Steel Belted Radials (22.87%)
02,517 Of the GS Models had an Optional Wheel or Wheel Cover (18.26%)
11,268 Of the GS Models had the Standard Wheel or Wheel Cover (81.74%)
00,437 went to ascMcLaren for Conversion, thusly:-

(I added the following - Mike)
Please note:
The replacement list he obtained from Ford stated simply the following (no reference to RS or GS):
04,869 had the 302 V-8 Engine
02,369 had the 6-Cyl. Engine
11,416 had the 4-Cyl. Engine
Before he lost the original list, Sandy sent me the following:
13,785 were the GS Model (73.90%) (this adds up to the 6 and 4 cyl cars from the replacement list)
04,869 were the RS Model (26.10%) (same number as the v8s made in the replacement list)
(Allthough listed as an option, factory records show that no V-8 GS Models were built for Model Year 1985).
Now there is a big debate (unresolved) in the Capri community about 85 GS cars with the 5.0....so I don't want to draw any "conclusions" from the numbers but I find it a bit odd that in one list they included the RS/GS breakouts with the engine options and in the other it was absent.
All other numbers between the two lists were exactly 100% the same. _________________ Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.
