Why do people "hate on" our cars?
I have read quite a few posts on forums in which people express their dislike for Mclaren mustangs. What gives?
Years ago I took my 89 to a mustang mechanic in Taunton, MA for a minor issue. While he was working on my car he said to me "I never liked the Mclarens"
Well needless to say I NEVER gave him ANY further business and NEVER referred anyone to him. What kind of arrogant fool puts down a customers car right in front of them.. @#$%^&* |

Well everyone is entitled to their opinion... In my opinion their opinion doesn't mean much. I can tell you that more people walk up to my car at shows with their mouths open and stare for a while than those who walk by grumbling. I think I have only heard one thing negative about my car which was a jab at my "80's wheels"? Duh it's an 80's car... keep walking. _________________ Mike

From shows that I have taken MY McLaren 'Verts to, I find that the ones that do not like it are of a different "class", if 'ya get my "drift".
The ones that go ape siht over it, are dressed better, speak better, avoid slang, do not use "bad" words, and some even thank me for showing them the car ! They are older (40s) and are holding some kind of "fancy" water, while those who put down our cars are chugging a Bud, using profanity, and are sporting multiple cross bone rings and a undershirt.
One finds more of the 2nd group at 'Stang Shows than "Classic Car Shows, where those atending refrain from profanity, in mixed crowds.
Just go to a Corvette show and listen & watch that group, and then mentally compare that to 'Stang shows.
Well, in Nu Jerceee anyhow.... _________________ Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.

We have the BEST looking cars around. When I went to the Auto show back in 1986 I took two pictures of the McLarens at the show ( both pictured in the Album section) Every time I saw one on the road , I would chase it down to get a better look. I even had a stack of brochures from the auto show that I would give to a owners of one at their business , home or at their work. I ended up in 1992 with a 86 Capri RS 5.0L which I still have! It was a bargin at the time and its MINT. I wish it was a hardtop coupe McLaren But its close. Now I have the little 86 'vert and its perfect.
Everyone on this site Sandy, Mike etc have SUPER CARS!
Never let ANYONE tell you your cars are oddball ! These cars have some the best things going for them!

A Ring. A ring that you may or may not wear on a finger. Whether or not you are wearing it.... you really like it. I doesn't do a thing. It does not make your life better, or easier , and it does not make you any income, either. It just sits there, looking attractive. Sometimes you clean it. Sometimes you kinda sorta show-it-off, but some folks might not like the ring. But, most do like the ring. Just owning that ring, brings the owner happiness. (and) that is how you should feel, too.
You really like your McLaren ? Thats all 'ya need. You paid for it,
and it is yours to love & enjoy, drive (or not ) it belongs to you and only YOU need be happy, and loven' it!
That is exactly like my car(s). Well, except for the 2 D.D.s

If you don't mind a newby chiming in, I think part of this dislike thing has to do with the name.
The name "McLaren" is often associated in the minds of the uninformed with foreign cars because it isn't normally associated the big three auto manufacturers in America.
Plus it's easy for people to hate, dislike, or be jealous of, anything that they don't believe they could ever own.
I wonder how many onlookers at Mustang Shows or scribblers on those forums believe they could ever possibly be the proud owner one of these unique, racy, rare, million dollar looking, McLarens? _________________ Favorite rides past & present:
