The saga continues.
After taking the old molding off and getting the new windshield put in place,
I got the new molding painted and ready to install. After using appropriate glue and placing the molding, I find that the molding is too short on the legs and came up short by 3/4 inch. Looks like crap

You got it from Hank in Florida, right? I would call him and ask why that would be. He should know.
I'm sure that is frustrating. _________________ 1985 ascMcLaren Coupe - Midnight Blue

Stent him a direct message, no reply. Probably won't get one. Bitched at him for sending something out of the junk yard. I had to sand the hell out of it to get it ready to paint

Well, I've had my rant, trying to make the best of a bad situation. Car runs great, has been abused to the point of neglect. But the process is slow and I'll get there, someday.

You have to give Hank a break - he is making parts from 30+ year old molds and he admits that they need some finishing work to fit properly. At least, the parts are available!
I, too, bought a windshield molding from him and found that it would take a lot more work than I wanted to put into it, so I returned it. I restored my cracked original molding by reinforcing the back with fiberglass, but... it cracked again.
I bought a new weather strip piece for the windshield, too, and it is too long for the original molding. I can cut it in the middle and make it fit, but I'm holding off.
I have been working on my boats for a while, so I have a lot more experience working with glass. I may buy another windshield molding from Hank and do the work on it. The new ones are fiberglass and are a lot more durable than the old plastic ones.
That is... If I don't sell the car. I just posted it in the classifieds
