Hello from western Pennsylvania, USA. I just acquired an 86 white ASC McClaren convertible. I got it locally from someone who bought it out of Florida a couple years back. Seems to have 0 rust, but time will tell as i crawl under it to replace bits and pieces. The car came with no owner's manual or any literature of any kind so I'm flying blind on how to make things work, like locking down the trunk lid and the tonneau that keep flipping open. I hope to refresh some of the old and tired components on it including the back seat/shelf carpet, some broken switches like the the headlight switch, tightening up the front suspension and steering, and the sagging doors before fooling around with any upgrades. The good news besides the solid body, is the A/C is pumping ice-cold air, and the engine and tranny are working, though sub par. I would appreciate any names and contact info from any of you who are willing to talk me through some of these basic problems, or just to bs. I think its going to be a fun car once I feel a little more confident about it's reliability. I've already have gotten chased down by a former owner, and a lot of looks, but that may be because I drove it home with the trunk lid flopping up and down. Cheers |

There are a number of people around. Some are helpful and some just pass on incorrect info. Most of the ones here are not the latter.
Ask away, I do my own work on my 85 and 88 as well as other Ford cars. I am well versed on Ford parts as well.

Thanks for your response. With the help of a few suggestions and a friend or two with more mechanical sense than me, we got the catches to work. But, it seems to have revealed some failings in this car that need addressed real soon. I'll email you with those concerns. Thanks |
