so i was driving home today and this same red 86 drove past me. i quickly busted a u turn and chased him down Shocked once i was able to pull up next to him at a light i shouted out to him nice car and gave him a thumbs up.

the car was VERY clean. he said he was out for the last spin of the year. i asked him if he had ever talked to sandy he said no... and i told him about this website. i hope he atleast calls sandy.

on a side note his car had only 1 tail pipe is it a V6? i thought V6 cars are white...

call me crazy but ill chase down any ascmclaren i see on the streets of detroit! i need to make up some cards that say www.ascmclaren.org and sandys name and number and times to call him on it. then i could hand them out to everyone i chase down Twisted Evil

IF it had one tailpipe >>> AND was a 1986 ascMcLaren, then ...YES it's a 6 Cyl. Which is about as rare as a one dollar coin. a two dollar bill and a fifty cent piece in your change !

Could be an 84 with a cheap single tip exhaust.

That could be.

Peter said it was an 86, so I assumed he saw the third brake light or something else to clue him in.

Please explain why. How did you rule out 84 or an 85?

Remember, early 85s with 5.0 CFI also had the single side tailpipe too.

3rd brake light & 1 tailpipe is absolutely a 1986 Six Cyl.

No, they were available in all the 1986 colors.

ascMcLaren Red
ASC White
Jet Black
Paris Blue Metallic (#1) - Different than 1989's Paris Blue Metallic (#2)
Atlantic Blue Metallic
Sterling Silver Metallic

Interiors were:

Tan (NOT to be confused with 1987-1989s "Sand Beige" {different}
Regatta Blue
Charcoal Gray (Only year for the color)

Tops:
Atlantic Blue
Black
Tan

W-O-W

The $50.00 dollar bonus came in the last 2 words !!
"with Recaros "

For 1986, the Recaros moved over to the option list,
at $ 1,765.00 EXTRA, a pretty heavy hit, for the time
frame !!

To find a six cylinder WITH Recaros, is quite the find!

No chance you got the VIN, is there ?

Sounds absolutely like a retail order customer waiting car.
(( R.O.C.W.))

A dealer woulda put in the V8 and lived with the standard
"Sports Seats" as did all the 1989 & 1990s and many of the 1988s.
