I wanted to jump on this one before, and then it disappeared...until now.

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/cto/2158652245.html

I think the guys name was Paul Adams, and when I spoke to him, he said that the State of California had some kind of outstanding fee of 500.00, and that you couldn't register it until the fee was paid, and that it would be the responsibility of the new owner to pay if they wanted to drive it.

My ? is this. If you register it in another state besides Cali. do you still get hung with the fee?

Is there anyone on the west coast that know anything about what this fee could be about, or elaborate about it. Sounds like the owner was negligent about something or other.

Not a bad price, would be $1750 if you had to pay the fee anyway. Pretty good for a running 5.0 ASC if its not rusted out.

I don't see how another state is going to get you with that registration fee. They only talk on traffic violation points, etc.

The biggest question is if he has a clear title. That should be all you need to get a new title and registration in another state.

No if registered in another state that 500.00 would not apply. State specific. However, another state may charge you for VIN verification with a check station or a Peace Officer. I am sure taxes too...My guess is that the car has not been registered at all for a while is the reason for the fee. You have to pay an $18 dollar PNO (parked non operation) fee to avoid penalties in this great state that is broke broke broke...

Van Nuys is not too far from Burbank, like the next town. Last year I saw another Blue 86 in Burbank listed on CL for $500 and needing a fuel pump. Sounds like the car sat for a long time. It might have been listed for $5000 later in the year. Can you say flipper? How many blue ones can there be in the area?

Cheap price. I would jump on this one. If it has allways been in california it is rustfree. I bought mine there and have NO regrets at all. Keep us posted!

There is, actually another in S. Cal that I would rather have that is a project owned by a member here, but I think my priority is the one I'm already working on.

Love to shop around though, and maybe some people here can save some of these finds from destruction, and there has to be a few members who don't currently have cars. (HINT)

My problem is that I live at the other end of the world compared to California and the shipping cost is not cheap because I wouldn't mind to buy another one espicially with recaro seats.

It takes a willingness to travel and potential expectation of a deal falling through after you get there, or someone beating you to the purchase, or you get there and the car was misrepresented and there's no way you'd buy it....and on and on...

Unless you can afford to pay for services.

When I bought mine from Christine Patterson in southern California I thrusted her and bought the car unseen. It was advertised on Hank's site. She was honest and the car was like she said. Cost of shipping was close to $2000 3 years ago. Never regretted it. On the other hand I bought a Corvette on ebay not far from me and bought it unseen too but I shouldn't. The car had hidden problems that were not nice at all. But I think the owner was not aware of that.

If needed, I'm sure I could round up an experienced Fox body person in the area to take a look at the car. SVO enthusiasts can be found almost any place.
