I need to replace my rear shocks and don't know whether to use '88 Mustang LX spec units or something else as I believe the ASCs had modified suspensions.
Also can a K&N cold air induction work with the '88's engine management system?
Any info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm thinking of buying a K&N kit + filter but don't know which engine management system is in my car. I read some where that they changed in '89 but that some '88s had the new system.

I have been installing Monroe Sensi-trac struts and shocks on many mustangs and capri's. Some lowered and or Conv. and ASC stangs and Capri with no compaints.

Califorinia cars have mass air in 88 - all other cars are speed denisity. Does your car have a sensor between the air filter box and throttle body? If yes - you have have mass air and need the 88-93 kit---- if no sensor then you need 86-88 kit.

Jeremy

ps. the rear upper shock bolts are under the carpet, under the tonnuo cover. you may want to get some spray glue to put the carpet back down.

The sensor has three wires. It is set in an alumunin housing. It is mounted to the fender inbetween the air filter and the throttle body. Should look like this:

Thanks for the link. Looks like I have the 49 state version as the fender mounted gizmo in that position is black and rectangular with one wire.

ps: My car is an "88, #974, Silver w blue top and interior.
