Was a remote key fob available on the '87 McLaren? If so, are there any available anywhere?

PROBLEM SOLVED! Thanks to a suggestion from Sandy, I pulled the switch out and sure enough, one of the wires had broken off! When I touched wire to broken piece, it worked. Thanks Sandy for your great suggestion...I guess 22 year old wiring gets a little brittle. And to Todd, I'm surprised to read ...

Thx Sandy and MercRS for your thoughts, but it still doesn't work. I've never had to engage the parking hand brake before, but did try it and no luck. So, if a wire has come loose or the switch itself has a problem, do I assume that I remove the carpeted panel that the switch is mounted on to get to ...

Top Pull Down/Tonneau Release Toggle Switch Problem

After not driving or having my battery attached to my '87 in about 7 weeks, I reattached the battery cables and tried putting the top down yesterday and the switch did not work...no sound at all. Never had the problem before. Any thoughts on how to rectify? Is the motor/switch behind the carpet ...

To Mike in N. Carolina, I think you may have hit upon a solution to my problem. Car has started every day in the last 2 weeks since my ill-fated attempt to go to the big Mustang show in Silver Springs, Fl. until this morning. I cycled the ignition on and off for 8 times and the car started fine. So ...

Starting Problem

I have an '87 and have an intermitent starting problem. The starter will crank but it won't start. At the Cadillac dealer I work at, I have talked with 3 mechanics and one service writer who said they think it is in the Ignition Control Module for the distributor. The service writer said he used to ...

Exhaust for My '87 McLaren

Thanks to ALL who took the time to respond to my questions about the exhaust I need to get. That makes sense about using the GT exhaust with the turndown tips to clear the ground effects valence panel added to the bottom of the LX fascia. I ordered today the Flowmaster GT kit and will be getting it ...

Exhaust System for '87 McLaren

I need a new exhaust system for my '87 and am wondering when talking to an exhaust place, do I say I need one for an LX or a GT? I assume they are different after looking in a Mustang parts catalog. But I know these cars all started out as LX's.
