Re: Farewell 89 McLaren in Australia - selling off or scrapp

Any updates?

Well, looks like time has finally come for me to unload my beloved 1989 ASC McLaren convertible (#241). It WAS 1 of 5 imported into Australia and converted to RHD. I believe it is the sole survivor of the 5 still on the road here.

Last six months had an engine problem -- car started ...

Re: Problems with your ASC Mclaren

I replaced my O2 sensors with Bosch and now I read that Ford replacements are the best.

Follow trouble shooting guides instead of just replacing parts. Ask me how I know that now.

Did you change these items:

Ignition Module on the Distributer (these fail due to heat from the engine ...

Have you checked the ground on the computer (located in the passenger footwell)? I have found a lot of good info on mustangforums.com. I googled and found 4 videos right away on youtube for stalling 5.0 mustang. Follow the suggested trouble shooting procedure and I'm sure you'll cure it.

Side note ...

Re: Farewell 89 McLaren in Australia - selling off or scrapp

That seems like a drastic move for a rough running car. There are so many places on the web to get advice on repairing Fox body 5.0's. Youtube alone has hundreds of videos on trouble shooting and repairing. Hang in there. It took 2 years to find the clunk in my '89 front end. Loose lower control arm ...

Re: Stock vs Modified

I have only done bolt-ons for mods and kept the stock parts. I replaced all the springs & front control arms with replacement Ford Performance parts so I didn't save the worn out stuff. On the rear I put boxed arms and FRRP drive shaft, so I saved the originals.

I don't want to cut my car up in any ...

Re: No stock radio

I was worried about changing the original, failing radio in my '89 too. I used a wiring harness adapter, so no wires were changed/cut/spliced and a mounting kit so no holes were drilled. The original radio is in a box in the garage. What's to worry about? Do it and enjoy good sound again.

My 85 ...

Re: 1985 coupe carburetor

I posted a photo of the part number on my original 1985 GT Holley in Albums-Other. Hope it help.

Welcome to the group. You'll learn a lot hanging around here.

Hello everyone. Just picked this up for 4800 cash. I've seen pics here of the same car I bought. It's white, wine top and red interior. Almost 95000 miles.
The interior is unlike other cars. It's a very deep burgundy and matches the new ...

Hemmings Muscle Machines: ASC/McLaren

Just got my new Muscle Machines and there is an article on what to look for in 1987-90 McLarens. Their articles are usually very informative. I have to read it later....

I have the tape and it is just Mustang. I found an inexpensive 19" LED TV that runs on 12v and play it at car shows. It answers alot of questions. I also have an enlarged, laminated article about the car so when I'm not around folks can read it. Years ago a friend said leave the top cover up while ...

Re: pics in personal album

Happy to hear you're "bringing it back to life". I had my seats redone locally, body was in good shape but after 15 years of ownership ours needs a new roof. I have a dent in my hood in the same spot as yours. A rock from driving 100 miles to work every day for 4 years. I looks the same as when I ...

Re: Vegas

The other white '89 was ours. We got into town Thursday afternoon, busy at Counts Kustoms on Friday, so we were only there Saturday. We did about 110 on the second trip around the track. We really didn't have time to look around the parking lot. Did you see the picture of your car on Facebook? It's ...
