Does anyone have some insight on carpet replacement? I would assume the carpet was cut in half due to the welded console support. Unfortunately, my rear bin cover was redone years ago by gluing new materials over top the old stuff. This makes removing the console cover risky. My carpet was replace many years ago and is now faded. The door panel carpet inserts seem to be the correct color. I will get some samples to match it up.
Has anyone used the replacement door panel boards for the 81-86? I know they were out of stock for quite some time. I did one on my 89 and it was not too bad. My upholstery guy said he could do it so I gave it a try. I should try to find some shorter staples.

Re: Carpet replacement in an 85
I actually was going to try to replace the carpet and got some of the medium gray carpet for the door panels but then I found good original door panels. So I'm afraid I'm not much help.

Re: Carpet replacement in an 85
Did you ever find any info on carpeting like the manufacturer or type of carpeting or factory part numbers? My back shelf got ripped up so was hoping to find at least pieces of like types any maybe take it to an auto interior shop. thanks
Re: Carpet replacement in an 85
The only Ford factory carpet was the floor. The rest was ASC supplied and likely market generic. My 85 has replacement carpet added to the top of the original stuff. Not sure why. It makes disassembly difficult.

Re: Carpet replacement in an 85
I replaced my carpet last month. LMR had the light grey matching my 86 convertible. Carpet that came out was cut down the middle with minor additional trimming to clear the center console. I laid the old carpet on top of my new carpet and cut it the same.

Re: Carpet replacement in an 85
I also got the door cards from LMR and moved all my vinyl and carpet from the old door cards to the new ones. Luckily only my door cards were bad, the carpet and vinyl are still ok. Used a little spray adhesive on the edges and stainless steel 1/4 inch staples under the seams where the original staples were. Had to mark up the ASC specific door armrest assembly screw holes from the old card panels to the new ones.
