Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. We have just acquired a 1984 Mclaren convertible. The plaque on the dash says it's #26. It's red with the tan top and tan interior. This car has the Recaro seats and is an automatic. I saw some conversations about scoops or louvers on the hood. This one has louvers. The car is in good shape, all original, but does need some tlc, so any and all comments are welcome.
This is our first Mclaren, we have 5 mustangs in the family. Well, actually 6, our daughter's name is Shelby!! haha
Wait until Paul sees THAT ! A whole mess of pics of HIS car, #26 ! Looks like very good cond. in those pics! I never noticed that 1 BLACK 1984, prior. That's R-A-R-E ! No white one(s) ??
"" I saw some conversations about scoops or louvers on the hood. This one has louvers. ""
Paul, ALL converts had the louvers. Only the Coupes had scoops, and seemingly not 100% of the 1984 had them, and we've found 1,2 or 3 1985 Coupes that have had them, but all togther, under 30 units.
Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.

Wow!! You folks really know how to make a family feel welcome. Once we get the car over to the house, we'll try to take a few current pictures and get information like the VIN number. My wife already mentioned that everyone here seems so much nicer than on the Mach 1 registry. We've got lots of questions about restoration stuff, but I'll put that all in a new posting.

OK, now we're just stunned!!! We were taking about putting together a history album on this car and you just filled in a huge part of it. I'm guessing your not the original owner from your posting. I do have some bad news though. The whole reason that we were able to get the car is that the older gentleman passed away about 6 months ago. His wife has polio and can't drive the car, so she sold it to us. We are going to post some pre-restoration pictures soon, but for starters I have lots of questions. I'll start a #26 restoration post for that.
Sorry to hear about that gentleman I spent a little time with him when he came to get the ASC we talked for a while at the kitchen table. He told me he use to race cars for Ford and Carrol Shelby "real cool since your daughters name is Shelby" and told me all about that stuff he called me when he got home with it and said he put it thru it's paces on the way home mentioned something about 100 plus mph "I GUESS AN EST SINCE SHE HAS A 85MPH SPEEDO" and had a blast so at least you know there is no carbon built up in it So you can rest in the fact that he was a Ford guy who really loved and enjoyed his cars I RESPONED TO YOUR PM WITH MORE INFO BEFORE I SAW THIS POST.

Thanks the pm. I just got the set of paperwork that was with the car this morning, even the old Texas license plate. I'm guessing your correct about him being the original owner. Their was a Ziebart warranty sheet from Nov. 1986 and I did see that the stuff I asked about happened in Florida in 1991. I'm going to write him a letter and ask about history, pictures, or any old paperwork that he might possibly have. Hopefully, I'll be able to post some current pictures this weekend. I've been working double shifts at the power plant. I'm also trying to put together a little history on Mr. Miller (the older gentleman).
Man i left the Tx plate i collect those i think i have one from the car since there was 2 need to ck my shop wall. Anyway keep me posted on any info you get on Mr Miller would like to know more about him. Glad #26 ended up with another enthusiast Here is a photo from earlier this year i have almost completed the walls with signs and plates
