I tried to post over there but allthough I registered (Oh, like 30 years ago) it claims it doesn't know me.... Oh well ...

Note that the wheels are anthracite WITH black trim. Owner may have liked the silver/black wheels better than the orange wheels -WITH- the black car. (Assuming it was always a black car). If anybody can get the VIN (at the least, the last THREE numbers, thereof, I can get the REAL answer.
Look at the grille. It's way too shiny. They were like a flat charcoal color. It has been painted. Who is to say what else has been painted. Maybe and maybe not.....

Mclaren

Post by svt1996cobra »

The ladys name is Wanda. She has had that ASC Mclaren for a long time.I seriously considered buying the car. I got some close up pictures of the roof and there was what appeared to be rust around the sun roof. She wanted 6500 for the car, I offered her 4500, she was offened. So I dropped the issue with her. From what I understand the car came from the coast and had some rust issues in around the sun roof, possible other areas before her husband fixed it. If anyone buys it, make sure you leave yourself an escape clause, because I believe it is a fixed up coast car that has had rust repair. I invisoned a car like 86-001 that the Delray Mustangs has been trying to sell, as the starting point that her husband had before he repainted it. She stated she had $10,000 in the paint job.

On a more serious note Sandy thanks for bringing up the fact that at that cost it may have had some extensive bodywork.

Pleeezze, really, I was only kidding. I am not suggesting that this car has had any bodywork, nor am I suggesting that I have any (inside) knowledge about this car. I do not have any knowledge. above & beyond what has been said here.

Few are the McLaren coupes, across this nation, that are kept 100% original, meaning just like they were when the selling salesman delivered them to the original buyer. After 21 years on the road, it's only natural that substantial deteration has taken place, paint faded, blems and non-OEM parts have been used. Such will bother some buyers and others have a higher tolorerance of mis-matched items. One man's canvas to begin a project, is another man's wreck, to be disgarded. We may not be fast to admit it, but the truth is that we all see things in a different way.
I would NEVER critique another person's car. You might as well condem hs wife or child.

Regarding this black ascMcLaren Coupe, I would strongly suggest not buying it (or 99% of all cars) without seeing it IN PERSON !

Black with orange stripes it appears.

It's for sale I guess.

Probably in GA. RARE-ASC needs to go check it out :D

Yea i just saw it in another trend a few min's ago then i see there is this one  I think this is the same one that was around a year ago the one in the fenced yard in south ga but i think that car was blue where was that trend that should help if so i talked to the lady before and tried to buy it and so did David but it did not seem like it was worth a ten mile trip much less a 175 mile one she was not very flexable on dealing on it hence the reason it is still for sale.

All right !! Good Going !! Puzzle Solved !!

It's a Real ascMcLaren, first of all and it was originally RAVEN BLACK, as pictured.....and here now is THE surprise...It was originally made with the SILVER stripes, Decals, and LOGOS, and of course.......THE Silver Wheels that is wearing !! It was recieved at ascMcLaren on February 6th of 1986 and was converted into an ascMcLaren on Feb. 8th 1986 and was shipped out on Feb. 10th 1986.
Are we all happy, now ? I know I am.

PS/ It was all right in front of us, and none of us came up with the correct piece to the puzzle....only the stripes & decals were changed. :D :D :D :D :D :!: :!: :!:

Car

Post by svt1996cobra »

I am confused, the last time this car was brought up, I thought it was determined that this car was 1 of 1, black with orange stripes, that is the only reason I went after the car. I am so glad she did not take my offer if it is a black with silver stripes car!
