Spotted #295

Post by Paul C. »

Hi All,

We were just out running around last night and came across a Mustang Mclaren. I saw the label on the dash, it was #295. I'm not familar with the details of 87 & up, but the "ASCMCLAREN" bumper was an easy giveaway. The car had red interior. The seats had the Ascmclaren label on them. The exterior was black with a correct black top. From what I found out, the owner works at a car dealership in Edina, MN. and the car was purchased from California. Hopefully, I'll get another chance to go visit and invite him to log on. :)

Take care
Paul

Hi Chris,

The next time I'm over that way, I'll try to track down the car again. I think the owner is a sales rep. at a car dealership, but I don't think the car is for sale.

Paul, a quick & easy way to tell if a unit is a 1987/1988 -OR- a 1989/1990 is by the door moulding. If the window is all the way down, and your elbow is out the window.....

If there is a color keyed to car's paint color moulding that begins in the back and comes forward all the way to the side view mirror, she's a 89/90 but it the moulding ends in a point ( > ) right above the exterior door handle, then she's a 87/88. The only way to break it down further - as in 87 OR 88 ...... or 89 OR 90 is when the car is in a specific paint color used only 1 year. Black, White, Silver, & bright red were used every year, and therefore are the most plentiful. Only 1990s had a driver side air bag.
The stitch pattern of the convertible top was altered beginning in 1989, but again, that would not tell one if it was a 89 or a 90.

Ya can't go by wheels as 70% of owners felt the need to change them.
