There is a little bid war going on with this, kinda cool. Price is moving up quite a bit!

Damn I can't believe it ended at 9800 (reserve not met of course).

I also can't believe someone would bid so high on a car with such crappy pictures. Someone described an SVO to me not too long ago as having a "mint" interior. Apparently mint to him was much different that what it meant to me. I fonally got pictures and the steering wheel was chewed apart, carpets were stained, door panels were hacked up with speakers...crazy.

I dunno I am a lil suspect of the bidding wars and rising prices. I wonder if he is having some friends purposely drive up the prices to try and hook others into a bid war. Next I am not sure if this is the case so if anyone knows please respond. Is this the actually owner selling the car or is it someone selling it for the owner? If its the latter that could very well be the reason for lack of pictures.

Nick

PS I am not happy when garbage goes for ridiculous prices. It will make it more difficult for people like us to either purchase or restore these cars as prices will sky rocket to a stratosphere so few can attain.

I also find it very odd that all of a sudden this car is in the 9K range with little to NO PICTURES and a owner that seems to think it's worth 20k. I mean my 85 was thoroughly documented and complete with 59000 miles 5 months ago for $4300. I understand the 86's Fi are worth a little more, but not enough info was given to justify that price. I bet it's a shill bidder situation.

I paid a good bit for my 85 17k mile GPIV mint original seller had crappy pictures but i really wanted one so thank the lord it worked out  And i would not part with mine for what that one ended at not even close. We all have thoughts on what something is or is not worth but bottom line sellers car he can ask what ever he want's it is his car we all need to remember that and not really our place to say he is crazy just pass on it if it is out of your budget and find another i say!

And you never know on ebay i just sold my limo on there and my lord it brought a lot more than i thought.

I totally agree it is the sellers right to ask what he/she wants for their property but more importantly what the buyer or market is willing to pay seals the deal. Besides the fact anyone has the right to their two cents as we make up the market.

True but it really aggravates me when people go on and on and say the seller is asking way too much and most of the time the one complaining is not a real buyer with the funds to pull the trigger for what they thing it is worth anyway and yes there are certain cases that are totally unrealistic but on collector type cars it is what the market will bear and hey you can't get it if you don't ask for it!

well if you are referring to my comment - I'm always in the market if the right car comes along and "I do have the funds to pull the trigger".... As the ASCMCLAREN community I think it is our obligation to discuss these things... Sure realistic value and what any individual collector is willing to pay may be totally different things for everyone. But I disagree with your direction that if we think it is too much to shut up and move on..

he he he For 27 years I sold cars. (Now retired). Of course, I could not do it - as it was my job....but I wish I had $2.00 for every sorta kinda "customer" that I had that I woulda loved to tell SHUT UP and MOVE ON ! Man, what the wind doesn't blow in, somtimes. I could write a book.
Selling ANYTHING where you can come in and you don't have to buy anything and selling a product that does NOT sell at posted price, but whose price is discounted is equally hard. Combine them ??? Now, that's hell ! Real Estate, going out to look at houses & cars have to be the absolute most difficult. Selling plots in a cemetary is also "touchy" but at least the buyers aren't looking fo a 25% discount, and they are not "Shoppin 'round" and asking 'ya to put your best price on the back of your card!!

It was not directed to any one individual if you are not one of those type of people then that would make you a legit guy searching for a deal and ready to jump on it if it's what fits your budget. Lets face it you know it and i know it there are way to many photo collectors and strokers like to talk a big game and waste sellers time with no intent to buy or have the money and cry when a vehicle has a high price or high to them at least. That also is what i am ref to so my comment was i think it is wrong to call some one out and call him crazy and so on was what was stated. Discussing price on a car sure and stating what you feel it is worth no biggy but saying or stating a seller is nuts a jerk a moron or whatever it is just wrong as said it is the sellers car he can ask what ever and keep it forever or come down to make a deal because a car is only worth what a buyer will pay just my 2c.
