Okay, I took a look. As I think I told you before, IF I was buying, your is THE car that I'd buy. Visually, it's faultless. Hard to believe 109,000 miles. What did you do, run it on a dyno, daily?

Mechanically, is it as good as the interior & Exterior? I like that color as it's 1 of 12 so painted, at the end of 1988 production.

The part that baffles me is that I checked it on the ascMcLaren Master List and it's # 951 .... "Gunmetal" with "Light & Medium Titanium Grey" standard interior and black roof with automatic trans. So, it seems to line up correctly. But.... car #951 should have dash plaque # 1430 (479 of 1987 + 951 of 1988 = 1,430..Yes? So, that part I don't understand. Have you owned it since new? How many prior owners?

Lastly, you're gonna be sorry........

Hi Sandy. Yes it runs very well...every now and then I have to accelerate hard just for the fun of it. It's completely stock, not even a K&N air filter! I'm the third owner and only have a partial service history on it. It looks like it has received normal maintenance with no special repairs other then for the A/C. I know I'll be sorry, but you have to do what you have to do. I'll have another one some day.

Shame. It's a beaut. Mine are stock like that, too. On my master listing, the name of the original selling dealer is so smeared I cannot read it. Do YOU know the name of the original ordering or selling dealer ???

I'm afraid I have no record of the original selling dealer. It is a beauty Sandy, I hope someone here gives it a good home. Men and their cars...go figure!

What is the link to the auction? I couldn't seem to find it in the thread here.

My opinion:

1) You need more pics. Especialy pics of any flaws. Pics of both side of the car, as you site the sides. Pics of the wheels. Pics of each seat. Pic of the trunk. Pic of the engine.

2) A better description is needed. Add a few bold words, and some humor (ie: I LOVE this car, but my granny mamie back whines too loudly when I try to fold my 6'4" frame while getting in with the top up. Then again, why am I driving with the top up!?!).

3) seperate the "good" and the "bad" into sections (ie: The Good... Now for the Bad...). Also, don't offer "how easy it is" or "it's a cheap fix" in the description. People think you're BSing them, because "if it was so easy and cheap, you would fix it yourself." Only offer what you see wrong with the car.

4) Offer a way to get out of the purchase. I put the following in my large auctions:

Seller's payment instructions
Cash is prefered, though I will accept a loan check after I have varified it with the bank or loan company. If you feel, upon arriving to pick up the bike, that the bike is in vastly different condition as compared to my description, I will refund your deposit less listing fees. Positive feedback will be left in return for positive feedback. Bike must be paid in full before I will allow it to be picked up or shipped. Bid with confidence!

5) Hide the counter.

Anyway, these are my thoughts. Take them for what they're worth.

Good Luck!

Bill, I agree with most of what you say, but curious about #5, the hiding of the counter. Why?

ProTouringASC is right on the money.

I would add that pictures are the #1 most important tool. You need 30 pictures MINIMUM to sell a car correctly.

I know ebay charges for additional pictures but I don't know how much. Do not just offer to send people the additional pictures via email. Get them all up on the web, either through ebay or some other site which you link into your auction.

If an item doesn't generate a lot of viewers, people might think it's not worth looking at. If it generates a lot of viewers, but few bids, people will get scared off. Either way, it can have a negative impact.

Yeah, but you drive a coupe! I mean they have nice graphics and all, but no wind in your hair. You have to wonder about someone who doesn't want wind in their hair!

Ok, just kidding. Like I said, they were my thoughts and free. I think it can have a negative impact, but of the things I listed, it's the one I would consider to be the least important.

Out of curiosity, why do you prefer the counter?

Thanks for all the input guys. All good advice, and I will produce a "killer" listing soon as I get over not selling it the first time! Of course I won't need to re-list it if one of you guys buys it! First $7K and it's yours. Thanks again.
