[quote="tfs2121boy bill your rippin on me today
your probly going to rip on me for this but my first car was a BRIGHT green Delsol i loved that car because of the wind in my hair... i better get a vert soon though because the hair is starting to go fast... and im not even 21 yet!
about the counter... i like to watch the counter to see how many people are watching the item too... lets me know if its worth bidding on because i dont bid on auction with 400 other people trying to bid too ill wait for one that no one wants to bid on and grab it for cheep
my step mom got my dad some books on selling stuff on ebay for his birthday a few months ago i wonder what they say about the counter...[/quote]
DelSol's are pretty cool... a little on the small side though. My wife has a Miata, fun little car with the top down, but with the top up! You know that little, quick, head turn to the left you do to check your blind spot? I once did that little turn only to bash my head on the driver's window! Ouch!!
I would love to know what the book says... let us know when you get a chance.
Oh, and don't worry about the hair, it's the head you have to worry about. As long as your head occupies its place on top of your shoulders, your doing just fine! 'Course this is coming from a guy who went to his 20th high school reunion because he still fits in his high school sweat shirt and jeans, and has a full head of hair! I figured I'd be the only one there like that, and I might have been right! What was the line from Gross Point Blank... "it was just as if everyone had swelled."
Shiny Side Up!

I know where one of those 11 Atlantic Blue Capris are, I'm pretty sure its not for sale though. I didn't know his car was so rare.
I really would like to see that British Racing Green one............hopefully it didn't get trashed and rotting away in a junk heap.

I have the BRG owner's name & address, which I cannot give out. The car is on the East Coast. (No, NOT in Jersey!). I assure you that its condition is very fine. The owner is a retired Ford Dealer, and ordered the car for himself. The paint is 1977 Truimph BRG. The interior is the Sand Beige & the Top is that Tan. I do believe that the wheels have the Gold accents, and that there's a bumper-body-bumper (insert) Gold Metallic Tape stripe set into the recess. I also recall she has the keyless illuminated entry & the Radar unit. I think she's a 5-speed but i'm not 100% sure on that.
To the "Reds" question......
The ascMcLaren Red is light, vivid bright red.
The Black-Cherry is extremely dark maroon
The Candy Red is metallic burgundy
The Regal Red Fox has some brown in it, similiar to a RED FOX ! It's medium shade, not a "dark" color nor a "Light color" but medium red with a tint of medium brown in it. Only 2 were ordered.

Yes Sandy, that's mine. The listing, however, was from about six months before I bought it from them. They must have listed it, and it did not sell. Waited some months and re-listed...that's when I bought it.
I see quite a few McLarens currently on eBay that are not selling too well...maybe I should wait a little while?

Sandy, I've heard you talk about many different colors in detail and sometimes you mention that, for example "ASC color x is the same as Lincoln Mark VII color of 1986". The summer's Tan that was offered by ASC but not used, is that the same color as anything else from Ford, GM by chance? I'd like to see the color on an actual car.Sandy wrote:I have the BRG owner's name & address, which I cannot give out. The car is on the East Coast. (No, NOT in Jersey!). I have recently postal mailed a chart for everyone to PRINT ~ ! you will all like it. I'm patinetly awaiting Mike to post it.
It's a referance chart, showing where each & every color came from, the brand car, the model, the years THAT car used it and the CODE for the paint on the car McLaren got each paint from. With THAT info, any automotive paint or paint supply store can mix it for you, while you wait. Try & find a retail /wholesale outlet that will make your just a pint, for touch-ups. It's a very very interesting listing!
Column 1 tells what years it was used on ascMcLarens and WHAT ascMcLaren called it (column 2). The next columns tell what car & model it was originally used on and the column 4 tells you what years it was used on the original sources cars. The next column tells you the name of the paint, on the original source and the last column is that code, that you'll need.
Hopefully, Mike will post it soon ?!!
Regarding Summer's Tan (in some paperwork Summer Tan, in others Summer's Tan) was available all year 1989 models, just that no retail consumer, nor dealership ordered one in that color. 0 made.

Summer's Tan was actually a Ford Truck color that sold very well on those. It's a light, pastel, non metallic tan. It was to go with the 1989 Dark Chocolate Brown cambria cloth top & the Sand Beige interior. No Buyers.

Something you'll love as much, is coming here very soon.
Ever ask yourself...."Where did each of these colors come from?" Hmmm?

Thanks Sandy, I'm going to do some searches for tan ford trucks of that era to see what that color really looks like.Sandy wrote:Summer's Tan was actually a Ford Truck color that sold very well on those. Of all the colors out there, why ASC took on a "light pastel non metallic tan" like color, doesn't really sound too appealing. But you know, back in the eighties, the Big 3 weren't thinking too far outside the box on anything. Colorwise, they are really makeing some cool colors now. I really like that Lime Metallic they are offering on the new stangs.....
