a few things about that car bother me. I dont like when sellers misspell McLaren, and also i dont like those 5.0 badges on it, or even their placement. And, i'd prefer the original wheels. Also, i'm not sure, but is that side ground effect peice the right one for 89 ASC's? The one on my 88 is different, and that one looks the same as the 93 cobra's.

I agree with the comments you made, 100%. However, yes, the ground effects are CORRECT!! :) Remember, 1989 & 1990 were "Series II" and 1987/1988 were "Series I". The differences?

SIDE ground effects were changed, wheels were changed from Campignolio (MSW in America) to Enkei-82s. Colors added and deleted, new interior colors & roof colors and new smoother roof stitching, without that "overlap" piece by the "C" pillar. New Options were added, such as Illuminated Entry and Remote Key Fob Entry. Recaro Seating was cancelled after 1988.

1990s lacked the "Design Concept by Peter Muscat" right side exterior 1/4 panel design plaque. Most of us 1990-owners have installed it.

This was caused when Peter & ASC entered into a bitter law-suit - etc, etc.

The pictured e-bay car, is one (1) of 18 made in Azura Blue of the Series II cars. (17 1989s and 1 1990)

'89-'90 Ground Effects

Post by Sandy »

I have never had those two side by side, so I
can't say that they are 100% identical as well
as interchangeable ~ however, to th human eye,
yes, the look identical. Keep in mind that (of
course) the 1989/1990 ascMcLaren came first,
by 3 or 4 years, so slight changes may have
been done to them.

they might not be 100% identical but there's no doubt that the cobra designers were STRONGLY influenced by the ascmclarens side gfx

the only difference that i think i see, but could be wrong, is that the asc/mclarens is made of 2 peices, where as the cobra's is just 1 single peice.
