What type of "documents" are you speaking of?
ascMcLaren is out of business. ASC is still in business, but as of late, 99% of thepeople who were there 1985-1990 are long gone. What are you looking to get ??

Trife

While I appreciate fast cars, I never really took to them, as a fish takes to water.
Reason ? I was always a "gadjet" person, loving options that did useless stuff, wonderfully. I loved cornering lamps (still do), and 6-way power PASSENGER seats and dual POWER reclining seats, and plush carpeted trunks, and digital dashs and power antenna(s) (Dual if possible - even if one was "fake") ~ & in the fifties, (when I grew up, as well as the sixties) none of the performance cars had those "luxury items" and fancy little touches, like courtesy lamps IN the interior door panels, and THAT kinda stuff, so I (somewhat unknowingly) migrated towards the luxury side of things automotive. The fact that my Dad was a 1/3rd silient partner in an I.C.P. store, we always had 2 Imperials (1 for Mom and 1 for Dad). So.... the luxury "thing" was even more cemented in my sync.
Therefore, I like an ascMcLaren moreso than a Saleen.
McLarens were priced where a guy a wee bit above "average" means could buy one. Saleen prices were always way outta my reach. Look at a new one, 2007. For a 'Vert, loaded, you're going to pay (or owe) sixty to seventy thousand! When MY 1990 Silver Anniversary ascMcLaren was $24,000, a convertible Saleen was in the $40,000 neignborhood, with options on it.

No, I must say, the blood running down in my veins is 100% pure ascMcLaren and the blood running up, is Cadillac & Lincoln and Imperial, if if if the dufasess at CryCo ever get their act together & make a REAL Imperial again.....

Geez...... Dealers must've been asking for a variety of prices for ASC's from '87-'90. I'm pretty sure mine was out the door for like $26,900 or thereabouts...... And I don't have any options, no radar or recaros.

Dealers LOVED ascMcLarens because they arrived at the dealership without any MSRLP window sticker, so the dealer could ask whatever they wanted to for the car. The highest I personally ever saw was $28,500. When the little darlings did not sell and were getting spyder webs under them, they came down as low as $24,000.

With a very limited number of dealers selling them, & no MSRLP Moroney sticker on them, and dealers paying floor plan on a V8 LX 2-Dr Sedan, which would have been at the low end of monthly floor plan costs (for a Mustang) and no MSRLP and limited availability it was a no brainer for many dealers to try & hit a bases loaded, bottom of the 9th inning outta the park grand slam, to make up for all the cars that they have to sell for $100. over dead dead dealer invoice.
I can't blame them for that.
Some folks stepped up and wanted the car MORE than they wanted the money and bought them at $28,000. Other markets saw the cars sit & grow those spyder webs under them. Then, they cut the prices to the bone, if there were any pickins' left.

It's all too long a story to type here, really.

Another part of the suicide problem for ascMcLaren was that they encouraged retail dealers to order ALOT of these cars, stressing that there was NO MSRLP on them, in a dealer only brochure that stated- "THE SKY'S THE LIMIT ON PROFITS" ((DUH)) ~

But, eagerly excited dealers over ordered them, to the point where there were waay too many for the intended market. This can be seen in the 1,015 production of the 1988s and howe many of the 1,015 eventually went to dealer-only auctions and brought $16,000 (NEW) at auction.
99 of the 1,015 that I KNOW OF, went out of the country to Canada and were sold there for $16,000 and then re-entered the USA and were sold to Ford Dealers (Lincoln-Mercury included) and were sold here for $18,000 as "used cars" - many with 300 miles on them, or less.

The REAL & actual demand for them, showed in 1989, when ascMcLaren recieved orders for 247 units and in 1987 when they recieved orders for 479 units. The real demand for them was an average of 360 a year, a far cry from 1,015 !

Your car, with #724 dash plaque is actually the 245th 1988 ascMcLaren made. You have to subtract the 1987 production of 479, from your dash plaque number. They did NOT start over in 1988, nor in 1990, as 1987 & 1988 were considered "Series I" and 1989 & 1990 were considered "Series II"

The numbering went like this:

1987 = 001 - 479
1988 = 480 - 1494
1989 = 001 - 247
1990 = 248 -300
1990 Silver Anniversary Edition 1901 - 1912

Options that were available on your car:
Automatic Transmission
Whistler Spectrum-II Superhetrodyne Remote Integral Radar Detector
Recaro Seating with Stereo Speakers in the Headrests and Power Lumbar

All else (like power windows & door locks were INCLUDED by FoMoCo in the D32 specific build.

OTHER INFO PERTAINING TO 1988S CAN BE FOUND HERE:

At this time last year, I was going to invite all from NJ NY Ct Mass & Pa thsat wanted to get together at my house to pick a date among themselves and let me know. As long as it wasn't at or in the Jewish Holy Days, which were these past 2 weeks, it was all good.

But.... Then I realized that we have a small house, and cannot accommodate more than 1 person. We have 3 bedrooms, and small rooms in a small house with a whopper of a big driveway :wink:
Then, without any warning, I got sick. I was sick a long time. Not the kinda sick where ya have to stay in bed (or at home) ~ but the kind where you just don't feel "right" or yourself. So... then I became a useful
entity of income for several doctors that I was led to, including one "Quack" that cost me $400. All of last July thru Sept. I felt lousey.

So, this year I am okay, but still have a wicked bad space problem.
So, allthough the spirit is willing, the real truth is that we just plain do not have the room.

Other than that, it's difficult to get all people together at the same place and at the same time. With Mustangs, okay there are like a million owners, so if 1% show up at a big event, you have one hell of alot of people attending. But us ? So, I figure maybe 10-15 at the most.

I'd love to do something, but it's that "room" (i.e. SPACE) problem.

Any ideas ?? :?:
