Barrett Jackson 2008
I think last year a modified 86 Mclaren sold for well over 20k there. It's all about who's in the room when the car crosses the block. I would not be surprised if this 84 was either bought back by the seller, or if a dealer grabbed it to resell. This is an auction for Shelby's, Hemi's, L88 Corvettes and high quality street rod/customs. All else is at risk of taking a loss. I was able to go to Thursday evening's auction with my dad. We happened to be in Arizona last week and thought it would be fun to see what the auction was like in person. It is an experience for sure.

I shot the McLaren segment and have a 40MB video/audio file. The autioneer stated the facts, only 50 built, this is #49. 5.0 OHV engine. Orignal car 41k miles. Recaro seats, 5 on the floor and A/c.
The paint on top of the front fenders and hood was worn through. Leather seats had alot cracking.
I have a few shots if anyone wants I'll post them. The window sign, paint damage, interior., exterior

I would, too.
I think that the bidders were turned off by the comments of the weak paint on the fender tops and the comment about the craked leather seats. At a Ford/Mercury/Lincoln auction, this car would have done much better.

Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.

I think that the comments about the paint and seats were those of our poster, hanksgt, not the auctioneer. Since the auction of this car was not televised, the SpeedTV guys would not have been offering their opinions, and there would have been no comments for bidders to hear.Sandy wrote:I would, too.

Hank, please correct me if I am wrong on this.

OK, I uploaded a few shots into the 1984 vert group. I tried to upload the video, but it wouldn't let me. I don't want to post the video to youtube, since there was something said about no video recording at the show....Maybe I'll mail sandy a CD.
I only took 300 photos this year. Last was almost 1,000.
