OK, I did it. My AOD tranny died last fall on my 88 ASC, so I decided to convert to a T5 5 speed (Yes Sandy I kept everything to convert it back to stock if I want).
What a project, but I learned a couple of things. First almost everything electrical wise is on the car to go auto or manual. No rewiring required other than a couple of jumpers and plugging in some handy connectors already on the harness.
Second, the hardest thing for me was getting the @@##$ clutch pedal assembly in the car. Damn my back hurt for a week.
Finally I ordered a new LX exhaust at the same time, I'm buttoning up the car and quess what the tailpipes are GT not LX. ##@@$$$###@@!!
I thought the ASC was a modified LX! If so they put GT pipes on it to clear the rear spoiler.
Anyway, there is a world of difference now that the car is running. It moves!!. I was happy with it with the auto, but man the T5 makes a BIG difference performance wise.
Just thought Id let everyone know it is a job but not to bad
