Call Hank & tell him. He's usually very understanding. :D

Well guys, I don't want to be a bad guy but I was a little disapointed with Hank lately. I ordered a Peter Muscat production emblem for my car and received it with the wrong number. I emailed him and he told me to return it and he would take care of it. I did it with explaination and gave him again the number I need, and got back an emblem with NO numbers at all and NO explanations. I think he is not very inclined in email response too and for this reason I will keep my emblem like this and try to take care of it myself, I will not bug him again about it. It left a sour taste on my side. I hope you will have better experience with your covers as this is much more expensive.

i also had an issue with a purchase from hank as well.
last year i purchased quite a few items at once & he was going to bring them to a swap meet in ohio. i had called 3 times to remind him prior to the meet. when i get down to ohio he forgot 1 of the taillight covers & all the accesories for all the covers & the rear valance.
recived the mounting accessories a month later, but the taillight cover didnt show intil nearly 4 months later. & only then after a bunch of phone calls.
for being a mclaren person, he comes off as not really caring. at least that was the impression i got. i wasnt the only one who felt that way either.
i also know another poster here went through the same thing with a light cover at the same time i did.
good luck.

Hank and Parts

Post by 351mclaren »

I have been dealing with Hank for more than ten years and i've had very few issues with him. I did have one issue with a rear bumber. I wanted the bumber that came on the 89-90's for my 1988. I wanted the OEM Mclaren piece with ASC MCLAREN engraved flush into it. I waited and when the bumper came it had the raised plate on it. I was upset to say the least. However, when I called Hank and let him know how I was feeling, he made a great deal of effort to make it right. Sometimes he is slow in returning emails and phone calls, it gets me hot also. But, just imagine how many looky lews call him and waste his time or how people just nag and nag. I think he loves the cars but can get overwhelmed just like any other person. I don't think it is that he does not care, I just think he has a lot of other things going on. I am waiting on some custom valve covers right now and its been a while, he will eventually hit my inbox, so until then, I'll just wait patiently. The one thing that I do not think any of us has to worry about is being ripped off. The guy has a good repuation and he has money behind him. Maybe send him a respectful email and vent to him the frustration. Not letting him off the hook, just being fair. Hanks a cool dude. No one is perfect 100% of the time....Also, remember, he is a one man operation.....

Hank

Iam sorry that you guys are having problems, but Hank has been excl. with me. I had a brand new top installed and was very pleased and when it started to mess up,he had no problem with helping,he exchange my rear ASC emblem on the bmpr that was wrong with the right one and everytime Iam in Tampa I love to go bye and pickup something. He does love the cars and has alot of things going on.So give him time and he will make it right. If I had the money I would pickup one or two cars from him.Hank is an outstanding person in my book. Thanks and Thanks to Hank.

I feel sorry about what is going on here cause this is all my fault. I have no doubt about Hanks integrity. Please forget my words and keep doing business with him. I apologize for all that! Sorry guys!

I would call him again and ask him why you got a blank plaque. Maybe he can't get them engraved? Maybe he doesn't do engraved plaques and leaves it up to the owner?

Hank has not been 100% perfect with me either but he has always fixed things though and I have purchased tons of stuff from him and nearly all went aok.

My plate is not engraved but printed. I know he can get them printed with the number because the first one I got was 86-0162 and I need 86-0062. It was just a mistake. Why he sent me a blank one after that is a mistery. A little word for explanation would have been welcome.

If anyone needs a 1987-1990 "Limited Edition" Dash Plaque, Hank has them, BLANK, without a number. Last I heard around $40.00. I can give you the address & name of the company that MADE them, originally. If you send $40.00 to them along with the plaque, they will engrave it, and return it to you. Overall, your cost will be around $85-$90.00. I had a spare made, and it looks 100% correct.

After you recieve your plaque from Hank, e-mail me for the address. I am making zero $$$ on this, unless ya care to toss me a couple bucks.
