Isn't there one posted in Tom S.'s Fotki album? I thought I saw one in there by a private owner.

Having owned several Saleens, and current own two along with my 86
Mclaren. I would want a car built that some of the Asc Mclaren purist
wouldn't like. Start by ordering a 87 ordered as Asc would have ordered
but change a few thing. Order it with the LX nose, LX straight tail pipes,
and order it painted white with blue interior.

Now have Asc convert it to a convertible. Repaint any sections needing
done because of the conversion factory white. Leave the body moldings
black. Install Asc tail light covers. Don't install front or rear Asc Mclaren
name plate trim, side skirts, rear valance, wheels, or suspension. Install
blue Asc interior with factory radio and factory antenia. Make the top blue.
Don't install the Asc rear spoiler. Install the 86 style rear brake light.

Next ship the car to Saleen. Add Saleen gauges and the momo
steering wheel to the interior. Install Saleen Racecraft suspension, the
Saleen 5 lug four wheel disc brakes and Saleen/American racing 16"
tires and wheels. Pain the wheels white. For the body, Saleen ground
effects kit all the way around. Saleen rear wing and blue lower stripes.

Then if you could get Asc and Saleen to asign the same ID numbers
to the car I think you would have the ultimate 87 mustang that could
have been built.

I would get a full package 86 Coupe
5spd sunroof Blue WITH Lime Green Graphics and wheels
and a factory GT scoop.
Sandy said they probally would have made the color if someone ordered
it.

Or a 86 Vert British racing green silver rims and graphics
with grey int.

can someone photoshop my first one don't know how to do it.

8699, any 1987-1990 ascMcLaren ordered under D32 code (the ascMcLaren code) with Regatta Blue (87 88 89) or Crystal Blue (90) would automatically arrive at ascMcLaren wearing your Oxford White paint. All other interior color choices (Sand Beige 87/88 & 89); Ebony Black (1990) Oxford White (all years); Scarlet (all years) Titanium Grey (87 88 & 89, (Opal Grey 1990) would all arrive at ascMcLaren in Raven Black.

The reason was that the FoMoCo computer was set to reject the combo of a blue interior car WITH a black body. The White cars needed extra time (longer wait for consumer) at ASC. The entire engine bay had to be masked off and painted black (firewall, inner fenders, radiator support bars, cowl area, and other smaller items. My Anniversary Edition has those items in black, as do all other colored cars, but my Azura Blue car has it in black, too, but not the same black and a few runs in the paint are slightly noticeable
here 'n there.
Your freight charges would be HUGE ! $374 to Indiana + round trip by private carrier to California and back to Indiana, is appox. $3,500 for enclosed, insurred transport.
Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.

i am pretty sure we (me, dave & mike) seen an 84 coupe at last years dream cruise.
we were on foot & was able to talk with the owner for a second at a light.
if memory serves me correct, the asc mclaren decal on the hatch was larger than normal.

could have been an 85, but i think it was an 84.

i didnt(no camera) but dave might have.
we chatted just for a sec while he was stuck at the light.
we invited him back to our spot but he didnt show.

you might want to search old threads from last years cruise, i think one of us might of mentioned seeing it.
again, it might have been an 85.

the thing i remember most about the whole thing was the guy had the most warped spoiler i have ever seen.
and also the decal on the hatch looked larger than normal.

i was told the following.
as long as the pantera group is offered the spot again this year(they have had it every year of the dream cruise so far),
the 1985 motorsport capri registry will be guarenteed 8 spots.
BUT..those spots will be for GP4 cars only!
the head of the pantera group happens to be a big Detroit Grand Prix fan.
i dont think we will be getting 8 gp4 cars this year, so i will see if we can fill the remaining spots with asc mclaren capri's.
i should have more info in about 2 weeks or so.

it appears right now that there will be about 4 or 5 gp4 cars going,
so we may have room for about 3 or 4 ASC Capri's as long as the hosts allow them to join us.

Mark and Laura's red 86 vert will be given 1 of those spots (since they have joined up with there car the last 2 years), which means 2 or 3 spots will be open.

dahberg wrote:I'll take the 89 British Racing Green, Sand Biege recaro leather Interior, Tan Top - 5 speed

2nd choice would be the Dino Yellow, black interior, black top, 5 speed

1st choice would be the car I have, but brand new with a 5 speed, before my Dad and brother put 30K plus miles on it...

While the Capri models seem to be lacking retention in value, they are much more unique and sleek in design IMHO
This is exactly what I was thinking! Only thing I would consider changing is the yellow car with a tan top and interior to keep the temp down.

Another neat consideration would be the British racing green model with a white interior and white top much like the 7-Up 1990 limited edition but with ASC looks.

Sandy wrote:"" 1988 White/white interior/blue roof 1988 would be nice - 5 speed""

I missed this...asc709. Oxford White interior was only made for 1990. There were, however, 2 units (1988) made with white leather, but they were for the Chicago Auto Show & the Los Angeles Auto Shows. There was no place on the dealer order form to select a white interior color.
Sandy if they made two with white interiors in 1988 what ever happened to these vehicles? Did they crush them or redo the interior in another color before they sold them?
