So far I have recorded only three of the 3.8 verts all white. This is the highest numberd I have seen. Almost end of production for 86 model year.
I never realized the battery was on the opposite side on the 6cyl's

Going to start on the suspension in a couple of months.
Tighten it up
Ball joints, tie rod ends, control arm bushings etc. etc.
I basically want to redo the whole front end, front and rear springs.
She does a lot of moaning and groaning.
Do you recommend rubber or poly?
Pro's vs. Cons
Also, when I order these parts do I tell them the parts are for an an
86 Capri convert?
Or did they use Mustang parts?
Any reputable dealers of suspension components you could direct me to?
Thanks for the help
Dan
P.S. Couldn't get the underbody shots today, sorry about that

Capri = Mustang
Tell them Mustang since some books don't seem to list Capri for everything.
On the bushings, unless your welding in reinforcements, the polys have been known to rip up the unibody. I am by far no expert but was reading about it at www.foureyedpride.com. It seems the polys are tighter, give less (so you get a sportier ride)...but since they don't give like the rubebr ones, the stress has to go somewhere. It goes into the unibody and will cause it to tear. It seems that with the correct reinforcements, this is not an issue. It also depends on how your drive the car too I'm sure.

Don't plan on welding on any reinforcements.
I thought that rubber would be the way to go seeing as she is just a cruiser, plus being only a six banger no need to to have poly.
What body style of Mustang?
GT or LX?? Or does it matter?
Any suggestion on websites to get a front end re-build kit?
Thanks again,
Dan
GT or LX is not really a body style. It can denote the type of bumper cover used but your car started life as a hatchback body style...but wound up more like a notchback (2 door sedan).
You will need to ask for things based on your engine. LX cars or hatchback cars could be had in anything from a 4cyl to the v8 so you need to specify the engine and not the trim level.

Capri's that were being ordereed to be a convertible were made under a special code, established especially for ascMcLaren. That code was D32.
The car began on the Capri Line as a BASE model (GS) made with RS seats (cloth articulated)... These were sometimes called "Bubblebacks" due to their rear window shape.
This is why you sometimes find a 6 Cyl. GS model asc McLaren Convertible, better known as a 3.8 SC
Units made to be ascMcLaren Coupes, began as the high line - high performance RS.

Your car is really special. Very excellent appearance & a 6 Cyl.
One part I have never ever seen, although I am sure that there are others, is this:-
http://lh4.ggpht.com/dankimf0853/SJs745 ... imgmax=512
The fact that ascMcLaren is embriodered on the seat back on the standard seats !!
Anybody else see that on any other 85 / 86 with standard "Sport Seats" ??
Neat Car. 1986 Mercury Capri ascMcLaren 3.8 SC 2-Seat Roadster
