Last day for #479 on ebay

Post by 35tsc »

It is sad but today may be the last day I own a McLaren. The ad which started last week is on its last 13 hours and I started the bidding at $5,000 with no reserve. I am kinda disappointed that it has not received any more bids - I do have 55 people watching the auction and nearly 3000 people have looked at it, so I guess we will see in the end. If you are looking for a true collector that is in good shape please stop by the auction and pick this car up for a fraction of what it should be selling for.

It has been fun owning it and being a part of the community but my expenses and space to store it has finally taken over and its time to move on.

Regards
Mark Brenner

Unfortunately the economy sucks and it looks like a previous owner got you with a title washing. A "prior" salvage title is going to hit the value of the car for something like 25%.

its a buyer's market right now. Not a good time for houses, boats, cars. bottom line. And the salvage title does scare people.

Nice car though. I remember this being for sale a few years ago, same pictures, and don't remember it being a salvage title then.

I did not know the title issue until I tried to list on ebay. I listed it and then they sent me a message that said they were deleting it because there is a discrepancy with the title history so I had to re-list it but had to list it as salvage even though I have a clear title.

Negusm - you are probably correct with your statement of title washing - its just too bad.

eBay cancelled the ad because they say it had the words asc McLaren used as a spam.
I will try to resolve this.

Wow. Just another example of the world's ignorance of our cars, huh?

I'm surprised that ebay would be so diligent. I was whether some bozo complained.

Sheesh. You can't catch a break I guess.

Ebay is really getting to be a pack of auction Nazis.

I hate it but there is no place else I can put something up for sale for a week and get over 3000 people to look at it. Ebay has cost me a lot of time and money because of there mistakes over the last couple of months - this is not the 1st time they cancelled my ad because of a mistake they made.

How have they responded when confronted with their errors? Are they cooperative or do they hassle you?

no responses, just links to where I can find the policies on there site. I don't think they really care, just off to the next customer who has a complaint.

sold

Post by 35tsc »

The car is sold. A local guy picked it up and loves it. Tired of the ebay thing - nothing but troubles. I still have the original wheels if you know of someone who wants them. The purchaser did not want the originals and just wanted the Cobra R's so we negotiated and I kept the originals hoping to recover some money for them. What would be a resonable price for them?

Thanks for the interest.
