The Old Grey Mac is Back !

Post by Sandy »

Here's the billing:-

1 new Air Filter Installed
Anti Freeze Checked to see amount of Protection Level: Needed Some
Anti Fereeze gets topped off.
1 New Tail Pipe. Now this Tail Pipe goes from the beginning of the down slope after coming from up & around the axle, downward towards the car's front. There is a factory weld there, he cut it on the weld and welded in the new one, which he held up the original & the new replacement & they look 100% identical ! Near the rear is a clamp, to hold it steady. It's Steel and was rusted. He installed a new identical one, but it's aluminum = No Rust.
Finally attached my 4" chrome tips with the Bologna angle cut tip.
(Kosher Bologna cut was NOT available. I got Thumann's. )
Shop Supplies were itemized and charged
Lube Chassis and door hinges
Checked Transmission Fluid. It was full (and clean)!
Equalized air pressure in tires. they were all low, but in different amounts.
Did New Jersey State Motor Vehicle Inspection.
Put on new passing windshield sticker
A fee for disposing waste
A BIG Labor fee!
1 new Clamp for tail pipe.
and one thing that I could not read on my carbon copy, that
looks like: 1 Plate Frange ???

Total Cost of this first major servicing At 879 miles was $ 410.00 and N.J. Sales tax @ 7% added $28.70 for a grand total of $ 438.70.
I am satisfied. I have changed the oil & oil Filter prior to this as well as added Anti Freeze.
He kept her inside each night, she did NOT get dusty nor dirty,
He is a very neat worker, & returned to me even the boxes that the Muffler came in the oil filter and the Air Cleaner boxes, and approval from me to throw away the tailpipe hanger clamp, the tail pipe and even the muffler with a hole in it the size of a golf ball.
He gave me a new-in-box tire pressure checker gauge, as a 1st time customer.
He explained everything he did and why he did it.

Happy Camper

Ya, he is unique. I forgot to say that after it all he actually asked me if I had any questions, and told me that his work is guarnteed for 4 months or 4,000 miles which ever comes first and...of course.... we both laughed.

Now.....catch this.....HE telephoned me tjhis morning, around 11 AM to ask me IF I WAS SATISFIED ! I told him I was and he asked me to tell my friends where he is
It's Called" Nelson's Old Tyme Garage (and it LOOKS the PART) I swear it looks like a set on a TV show, but...inside it's huge ! He has one helper & the two do all the jobs, but all cars dropped of, are kept indoors at all times, so none get robbed or broken into. The shop is air conditioned, too. It's located on Dunnell Road in Maplewood New Jersey. It's 7 miles from my house.

It's all straight outta the 40s & 50s (if ya don't eyeball the computers, that is.....)

He drives the same car my wife has - a final year 2001 Jeep Cherokee, and it's even the rare LIMITED, but his is dark green with Lt. beige interior.
Ours is Silver with Dk. Charcoal interior. He said that they are unbeatable in snow/ice and cheap to keep & cheap to run and tough as a bank vault.
I concour. :!:
