Mclaren Seat Belts - OEM Door Panel Material

Post by 351mclaren »

Ladies -Gentlemen,

I have just taken my car interior completely apart and i'm a little upset with ASC at the moment. I have found SEVERAL errors and poorly covered and/or dyed parts. My interior is beige, but was originally blue and it shows through on both inner sides of the seat belts, and the seat belt besel covers. The console was also very poorly wrapped and the glue was not cleaned off properly, etc. Basically it was a rush job. I found the inspection date of January 1988 for my car.

Anyway, I still LOVE my car! Sandy or Mike or anyone else who knows, the seat belts in the car are just LX coupe belts, correct?

Yeah, I think so.

If you want them rewebbed, talk to SnakeOyle products. They reweb belts with factory oem webbing for like $45 or something really reasonable. I stopped chasing NOS belts after I saw what they could do.

Yes LX belts installed by Ford.
Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.

No I have not seen a pair. But I did ask them and they seemed to know what I was talking about.

You can also talk to FoxMustangRestoration and supposedly he gets them rewebbed to OEM look and feel too. I wouldn't doubt if he used SSnakeOyl.

The problem people will run into though are the plastic sleeves which are reproduced but not in the LX colors. Again talk to FMR, he was working on some tan repro plastics.

I've used SSnakeOyl to re-web seat belts (but not for an ASC) and was VERY happy with their work.

It is. He is especially interested in pushing to get the tan color made. The blues might be a bit tougher. But you guys need to email/call them and tell them what you need (year, trim level, etc) so he can get an idea what the community's needs are.
