'87 Exhaust

Post by 87ASCMcSteve »

WOW!!!! You should hear this exhaust system with the Flowmater system and the H-system that eliminated the catalylitic(sp?) converters! It sounds SUPER!!! Going this weekend to the Mustang/All-Ford Show at Silver Springs, Fla. sponsored by Nationaol parts Depot and I'm registration number 1326! So there should be lots of cars and hopefully interest in my McLaren. Willl let you all know what comments (if any!!) my car gets.

I don't have cats on my 89 either. I have installed the exhaust from a 96 gt on my 89. I have a aftermarket h-pipe with the tail pipe and mufflers off the gt. I have the stock 96 one piece( the little piece before the muffler, the muffler and the stock stainless tail pipe with the stock hangers) and everything fit without cutting.

Forgot to let you all know about the All Mustang/Ford Powered car show last Sat. in Silver Springs, Florida that I was SUPPOSED to take my '87 McLaren to with the new exhaust system. THE CAR WOULDN'T START AT 6AM WHEN WE GOT IT PACKED UP AND WERE READY TO LEAVE FOR THE SHOW!!! It would crank but not start. It had done this one time previously a few weeks ago but hadn't done it since. So we changed cars and took the '02 T-Bird instead. The McLaren started right up later that night when we got home and has started every day since! Mechanics at the Cadillac dealership I work at said they think (without looking at the car)that it is probably the Ignition Control Module for the distributor. One mechanic said his old '87 Mustang years ago had that problem and it was common on that engine. Incidently, the sound from the Flowmasters without the catlytic converters is really great!!! Thanks again for all your comments about the exhaust system.

Must be nice. I can see me taking mine off in the future. I have 2 chamber flowmasters on it now, sounds good, but I'm sure its even better without the cats.......
