87 vert on ebay

Post by dk5727 »

Did anyone see the 87 silver vert on ebay? The seller is claiming that he could only find six documented sales over the last year for asc mclaren verts and they were all well over $15,000. He claimed one was $27,000 and another was $32,000. Can anyone verify this? I have a 50,000 mile 1988 and almost sold it last month for $7,000. I couldn't go through with it though. I know our cars are undervalued but I don't know where this seller is getting his info. He claims if it doesn't sell it's going to Barrett Jackson. Sound like a lot of hype from a dealer trying to get top dollar.

Wrong Stereo
Wrong wheels
Hazed (crazed?) Headlight Covers
Non Original VINYL convertible roof
Replaced Speedo/Odo (They definately did NOT come with FORD MOTORSPORT on the Speedo !
The Tonneau does not fit correctlly on the passenger's side, as it appears to be making contact with the rear quarter. Red Flag.

I'll pass.

I emailed the guy and asked where he got his sales figures. My almost flawless 86 Vert cost me $9749.00 with 18,236 miles on it. With options that almost none other have. Don't know if they were put on by ASC or added later. For instance the dual alarm systems. Infrared for perimeter and engine disabling if tampered with. It also screams, "Help. I'm being tampered with" if you open the door, hood, trunk with the alarm set. Over and over and over again!

The seller is U.S.Auto Ltd. in Hollywood, Fl. No Better Business Bureau complaints. Registerd 2004. Agent Kenneth Behr.

I suppose he's not counting this one, since it looks like he just picked it up a whole 10 days ago...

Let's just say his sales #s are a optimistic dlrs view of some of the asking prices on some that have shown up for sale recently.
If you remember the low mile 90 that they wanted 32k for and bid up to 19k a month or so ago...

The only one that sold at auction anywhere over 20K that I've come across was this '86 vert from the BJ Palm Bch auction back in '04...

The current bid is $9,000.00 He bought it for $7500.00 according to the previous seller. I've heard from both of them.

Well, if thats the case, he should jump on the $9000 or what ever it bids up to if he only paid 7500 for it. Be a little realistic....

And looking at the pictures, the wheels aren't a big deal, that can easily be taken back to stock, but what does bother me is how many areas that the body panels don't align well - all the way around the car! red flag.

Post by Kentennis »

The guy relisted the car on Ebay. Didn't take the 9K.

VIN:1FABP40E1HF243158

Listing #: 220479152736

No vehicle history report. Wonder what it would show?

Probably didn't take the 9K because the possibility exists that he was at least 1 of the two high bidders ( 1 had 0 feedback, the other had 1 feedback )

I think this is it's third go round on ebay... It's also listed on auto trader for 15K...

Considering it has a replacement (Motorsport) 140 mph speedo, more than likely the mileage isn't correct...

Sandy, his car is that car that look like it went through a flood and has a ton of mismatched parts but the vins all point to it being an 83.
