1989 FS Hendersonville, TN

Post by lost1988 »

I added this car to the database because I thought it needed to be listed. It's not the car I'm looking for but I'm putting it out there FYI.

This car has been for sale for about 8 months at a little car lot in Hendersonville TN, a suburb of Nashville. I've seen it around town for about 8 years driven by an elderly gentleman and briefly talked to him one time. He did not buy the car new. It's a five speed. It appears to be mostly original paint but has some problems with the drivers door handle and door fit in that area as seen in the pictures I posted in the album. The biggest downside to this car is that most of the seat leather has been replaced by cheap vinyl in an incorrect pattern and stiching. Plus the Mustang wheels don't do it any favors. I passed on this car in my search mostly because I think this is not a very attractive color combo. They recently reduced the price to $9950 but I think it's still overpriced. It is showing 104,000 miles and still has the factory radio.

Car looks good - 'til ya see the driver's side door. Looks like an attempt at a forced entry.....otherwise, is she as great as she looks ??

I always liked the Claret-Wine roof - but when viewed at the same time as the interior ("Scarlet" red) it's terrible! The two clash in color. Top down: NICE, white car / Red Leather - Top UP / Nice! White car, Cranberry colored roof. But viewed together ?
Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.

The interior, and it was locked up, so that's why no interior shots, is actually a darker red and not far off from the roof color. I can't recall seeing a Mustang or asc with a burgundy interior like this but at any rate it's not the red red that was available.

If this car was silver it would be much more attractive in my opinion. And that's part of the problem the white paint is cloudy and chalky and has probably already been buffed within an inch of it's life. So when you start adding up the needs.

Door repair and paint, I'd personally paint it silver or pewter at this point -several thousands
Redo the leather -over a thousand
Exhaust system's a mess -six hundred
Change out the wheels and 2 dollar tires -several thousand

and you haven't even gotten to the mechanical stuff, although the basics clutch, tranny, ac etc are probably okay.

plus in all those years I never saw it with the top down so at the very least it's probably got to have the pull down fixed.

start at ten grand and by the time your finished you've spent as much as you could buy a nice garage kept example with lower miles, or maybe not.

Looks like a pretty nice car to me. I don't mind the aftermarket wheels, they don't look too bad..... and they are easily changed back to original for those of you who are originality freaks, that have pristine '86 coupe, that have extremely rare '90 verts, and hardly ever drive any of them.

I would like to see the interior. and see what was changed. I've never been much of a fan of white, but that wine top really makes that car pop. too bad the interior color couldn't be wine too. can't do scarlet (red) eeek. Its against my religion.....
