need help finding a pull down motor or case and adjusting
i just recently had the chance to get my old asc back. i had sold it in 2005. after getting it home and looking it over there were several things that needed to be fixed. i dove in. the top wouldn't latch in the rear anymore. i removed the toneau cover to gain acces to the latch....removed th latch cleaned it and replaced it. now when it grabs the chrome nipple on the top it seems to bind? ive been tryig to adjust the allen screw and 7/16 bolt that engauges the top latch.... however while doing all this i noticed the pull down motor for the toneau has broke loose. i removed that part through the trunk and cant find one of these either... i assumed it was from a lincoln trunk? but there are no ford part numbers.... anyhelp? the motor is fine, but the plastic case broke where the bolts went through. and has anyone had to adjust the allen screw im speaking of......it controls how far the latch pulls the chrome nipple into the chrome latch hole on the toneau????
thanks
jj

Chevys don't have motorized trunk pull downs.

pull down motor
found a new houseing on ebay already...thanks i would have never thought to look at a caddy..now if i can just figure out how to adjust the allen screw that adjusts the fingerlatch.
nice placement on the access hole to the latch, the spring mechinism on the toneau prevents access w/ a socket...so entire toneau had to be removed inorder to remove the chrome latch. very basic stuff in there. a piece of flat steel and a few springs...mine was full of dried up grease and grime, no wonder it wouldn't latch half the time. anyway thats all clean and reinstalled. wish i would have taken pics..i bet initial enginering of these parts was a nightmare...

Boy, am I ever jealous! I am about as handy and mechanical as Grandma Moses ! I am scared to take out a screw! I think it's really a gift, to be able to do these things.....BUT people who can, never ever think of it as a gift. But...... it is.

latch system
no you have to remove the entire toneau panel from the car. unplug 2 sets of wire, remove the 4 nuts connecting the toneau spring system to the toneau, and remove the screw on the safety cable. if you look on the underside of the tonuea you will see a hole. inside that hole is the nuts to remove the latch...

Yeah, so did the Pontiac Firebird as my mom's 86 FireChicken had an electric pull down.
Leave it to GM to put an expensive pull down motor in a car and make the interior so cheap that the upper inside door trim cracked after closing the door 5 times. The radio fell apart and the console went to pot.
We replaced that friggin door piece 3 times before we just said screw it and let it be broken.
