Blue interior = White FoMoCo paint question

Post by KHummel66 »

I'm sure I'm not remembering something correctly, but here's my question:

If all the cars destined to become a vert were painted either black or white by FoMoCo (depending on the interior color) then repainted to the final color by asc, why does the FoMoCo buck tag on my Paris Blue '86 Capri vert have paint code of 3J for a FoMoCo blue on instead of something like a 9D for white?

I did some internet searching. Paint code 3J in 1986 was for a color called Light Regatta Blue Metallic, which looks pretty close to the Paris blue on 86 0001.

Anyone else's buck tag show a paint code other than 1CC black or 9something for White?

Light Regatta Blue and Paris Blue are 1 in the same! Light Regatta Blue was Ford's name for the color and Paris Blue is what ascMcLaren named it. It's also a Nissan color, Bright Blue Metallic . Code 426

Is there any reason the process would have changed in 86? Or been different for the first car in this color?
