85 Capri - seen this 1 B-fore?

Hey, thats a nice ride. My brother has his car for sale or trade on craigslist and someone wants to trade him one. He's asking 3250 for his car and is going to try and get an almost even trade. The car is a 85 with 29000 miles. It was one of five press release cars, one of three cars with the hood scoops it has, and one of one with the hood stripes it has. It is a little rough on the outside but the interior shows the 29000. How much would this car be worth? Thanks

I own the press release car, the guy I got it from was going to trade it for another car...which is what the response post is about... much better shape now, if I could only post up pictures I would show it off

Front grille bars have "mercury" emblem, NOT ascMcLaren

Blue whhels - Not Orange

I thought the 85s had the capri factory Mercury emblem. I thought 86 was when they started glueing the ascmclaren onto the mercury emblem....

My 85 coupe has the Mercury badge on bottom bar of 3 bar grille.

I think Sandy made a mistake.
Several other cars I have seen have same grille.

It's an asc. I believe I have the vin and it is an 85, 5.0 Capri.

The engine bay is the correct midnight blue and not the lighter blue on the outside.

I can't remember if I ever got the door codes or not. It was very very rare to see a midnight blue GS 5.0 Capri in 1985. I have only seen one...and it was a roller.

Yup, I had brain-fart. MERCURY in grille is correct.

Sadly, I only have 1986 VINS, so.... it's whatever you want to believe.
But the bigger question is "WHY" ?

Would one take a Saleen, and do everything possible to make it look like a Mustang GT ?? Same thing here, IF it really was a real ascMcLaren, why would one strip it of everything that made it an a ascMcLaren ?

I have all 1987, 1988, 1989 and 1990 VINS.
Also 1986 'Verts & Coupes. NO 1984 / 1985.
