I dunno. 'cause the 1984, 1985 & 1986 were made on the Mercury CAPRI base. and not a Mustang. The Mustang(s) began with the 1987 and ran through the 1990 model year. The one pic I did see, of Capri(s0 lined up at ASC had all of their windows in proper placement.

The window sticker/glass is from a 84 capri the glass had to be changed to make a convertible . I have all 4 peaces of side glass from that car !!
With the original Ford window sticker to that car. convertible owners would have never seen their ford window sticker and I have the one to the vin#620632

VIN Numbers on 5.0 SCs

Post by #67 Black Mac' »

Hello all,
I hope you don't mind me jumping in here!

I am a newby to the ASC McLaren world, and quite possible don't understand any of the system here about the order in which Mercury sent their autos to ASC in the mid-eighties.
This whole thing with the VIN numbers on those Capris now seems a bit confusing to me since this "84" appears to have a last six on the VIN that starts with F62 when my "85" VIN has a lower ending number F604444.
Can one of you please explain to me how an "85" can have a lower last six in the VIN than an "84" on these McLaren convertibles?
thx
Ron

It's a sequence number and they start over every year.

Each year started over again. Capri's last six numbers start with a 6.

Mike, if you are able, and it's not too faded, could you write (type) out as much as you are able, that is in the white (or center) of that window sticker. If I can "see" it I can explain most or all of what it says. I am sure that the huge jig that lasered off the C-pillar and roof caused many codes.
I think there are no alpha-numeral codes, but English writing, some in Ford-Speak.

If you can do that for me, I can figure it out, from this end.

Either copy it here
or e-mail the codes / FoMoCo description

Nope, sorry I've never seen it before. If you're interested in buying it I suppose I could go and have a look and report back.

You have to take a side angle shot or take it in direct sunlight where the flash won't go off.
