Northtowne EuroCoupe

Post by svt1996cobra »

I was looking at my recently purchased EuroCoupe, found something very interesting. The car is a very late production Capri. I pulled the intake off and noticed it had the 87 H.O intake, then I looked at the castings for the cylinder heads, it has the E7TE head, not the E6SE head. I thought well someone replaced the engine at one point, I looked at the back of the engine block, it is stamped with the last digits of the cars VIN. The parts were all cast in 86 (date codes). My 86 EuroCoupe (northtowne car) has the 225 H.P. 87 H.O engine , rather than the 210 H.P 86 engine. Has anyone else with a northtowne car noticed this with theirs?

You may want to check Capri/Mustang owners as well.

I can imagine them running out of heads at the tail end and having the E7s ready to go a bit early.

Going from memory, the car was built 9/86.

I have to go back over to the warehouse to get the date codes of the other parts. They were manufactured in 86.

David- My Eurocoupe is configured the same way as well, its #19 and was delivered to Northe-Towne. By VIN, mine was the last White Eurocoupe built at Livonia.

One of my 86s capris I sold years ago actually had some things similar. Some 87 parts. Car was another late date built one.

However, mine had the e6 heads, but an 87 block. I can tell the motor had never been apart before. They must have had/found some 86 heads left but just picked an 87 block to put in. No complaints here as I was able to put OTHER heads on the car after I noticed the block AND pistons were 87s....

Mine is the same as svt1999cobra's. Build date was August of 1986. Dash Plaque # 109 of 114. But, it's not a Euro Coupe.
What trannyies are in your Euros with these pull ahead "Mustang Parts" ? Mine is an 4-Speed Automatic - I do not recall seeing an Auto Euro (at least at the dealer I bought mine at, and they had tons of these cars all over the place. I think they ordered 20 in the Suimmer of 1985.

Wasn't there a story behind the cars built at Northetowne?

Hi Sandy- In reviewing specs on the Eurocoupes, there were 9 built w/ 4-spd autos. I have that trans in my car as well.
