Well it looks like it's working for him 1 bid 6k
I really dislike people like this. He's preying off the uninformed and purposely making them misinformed, just so he can line his pocket. I don't mind someone making a profit, I just have an issue with it being done in a manner that I consider as unethical.

Final bid: $6200.00. Did not meet the reserve so it isn't sold. But I'll bet the guy contacts the bidder (If there really is one) and offers a sale after trying to get a couple hundred more!

I bid on a Cadillac, only 50 miles from here. Went and looked at it. The guy just threw me the keys. Couldn't get of his lazy azz to show me the car and try for a sale.

I came home and bid. A very low bid. Didn't meet reserve. But he also had an 'offer' window. So I offered, what I felt was a fair price. After the auction was over he kept contacting me and finally said he'd 'take my offer.' I told him I don't do business that way. I made a fair offer, he didn't accept it and I was done with the deal. And I walked away. Don't regret it for a minute.

In my opinion 75% of all car salesmen give the rest a bad name.

That's way better than lawyers where 99% give the rest a bad name.

If you were a car salesman, ( as was I ~ for 27 years) you'd understand all that you do not understand, at this moment.
(and) if you were a car salesman for 27 years (aand I was not, I probably would not undersand either,

Think of the bumble bee. He goes from flower to flower to flower. At one flower he will eat. A car shopper does the same, from car dealer to car dealer. It is OUR job to STOP them from shopping, wasting time & money. Think of a Real Estate Broker. Consumers do not do that with them !! They chose a R.E. Broaker and they work with THAT broker. They do not go from broker to broker...... as they do with automobiles.
They come and take hours of our time, asking thousands of questions, out on a Demo Ride, we take financial statements (if they are leasing or financing and and and
AND in the end ??????
They stopped at a same brand dealer, 100 miles away from their home/work and went in and THAT dealer purposly "forgot" to add destination for $400 and he has all the knowledge he gathered from ME and now buys it there. The other dealer knows that he left off Destination Fee, but keeps mute. 3 days later, he, Mom & the kiddies all come in with major smiles on their face, all gigly at the new shining beautiful car, and the sales Mgr. takes just HIM into a private sound proofed booth (he's gonna scream!!!!) and brings him outta the eyther !
Bangs him for $400. Crap, he waited 6 weeks for the car to come in.....
Doesn't wanna lose face in front of them....
Coughs up the money..... Now then, I treated him honestly and he ran like hell. I made NUTT-ON !! The lying salesman mde MY money - simply because he lied (or held ot the destination, as he (we) know after the long wait, wth mom & the kids, he doesn't make a scen and ruin a happy occasion.Later on he comes us (remeber we are 3 miles from his home) for FREE Warrantee servicing! If we are busy with a shop full of OUR customers we will turn him down. If we are slow & looking for work - we will take the guy.

Every person who comes in tries to - in some way, to out-smart us. It is totally impossible to do. We do it 12 hours a day50 weeks a year. They shop for a car once ever 4, 5 or 6 years.

It is the game. It's damn hard work and not the greatest pay, and un -GODly hours ! 9 to 9 M-F & 9 to 5 Sat. Every "holiday" you probably get OFF......WE ARE WORKING !!!!
They try to outsmart us. It is impossible.
A guy comes in from another Dodge dealer with a price on the back of a salesmans card, and shows me the options, the model, etc. He is trying to BEAT the price. I excuse myself and go into another room and figure up MY cost for what he wants. MY INVOICE COST is $310.00 higher whta his card says he can buy it for.

I look at the card. Ha, It's Mike From Friendly Dodge. We meet for b'Fast on Sat AMs. We double date with our girlfiends. Crap! I call him up, in a private room. I tell him, "Mike, I had this guy in on a Dodge Shadow, early this morning (LIE -guy is there, now at 3PM) he is looking for a Shadow and he is driving a nasty old Impala with dog hair all over it. He is a tough cookie. Mike says, I just had him, 45 minutes agro. Creep ! I low balled him by $300.00 NowI iknow by how much more he needs to sell.
I give the customer my card and my price, remember $300 more. and send him off. He'll be back Mike looks to see if he "Bounces" (means agrees to more $$$. Now, He has MY card with valid price. Now, he is pissed at mike, and comes back to me. Well sometimes....many times they take the bounce!!

and yes, we have a complete language and yes we can always always win.
IF IF IF we are sincere, and fair, and DEMAND respect.
I never looked to screw folks I only wanted to sell a car/truck, made a decent commission on a $4-$10,000 purchse and have a HAPPY consumer. But, if they get frisky or fresh with me.....I set them stright from the get go. 'Ya have to. If they lead the salesman around he will never sell them.
I had one walk in and proclaim, "What's Cha Given Away ??
I replied, Nothing !! This is a retail establishment, and we are not the Red Cross." I actually sold him 2 pick-up tucks.
We are not crooks. We are in a very very hard business
Well i was... I retired after 27 years of that B.S.

I see the guy relisted the car. This time with $7,000.00 starting price. Reserve not met at that price.

And Sandy, Car buying can be fun. But it can also be a hassle because not every car has the same options, therefore different prices at different dealers.

Today buyers can get more information about what a dealer pays for a car, what options really cost, and can do a lot of shopping on line. No need to go to a dealer and tie up a salesman's time. But, right now, I see a LOT of empty dealerships with salesmen standing around and no one to talk to.

A friend of mine is a sales manager/internet slaesman at a Ford dealership. I stopped to see him the other day, had the Vette. There were 3 salesman literally quick stepping over to greet me. Hated to disappoint them but I am not in the market for any vehicle at this time.

An honest, forthright salesman will get some referrals and repeat business, but now you never see the same people at a dealership.

now you never see the same people at a dealership.

That is because OWNERS always BLAME us when rthe buz is bad.

Now then, here is the way you, the customer, wins.

1. Sell your trade- In by yourself. It is easy and don't be watching the
sales tax you coulda saved on a trade - because you will sell your car for more $$$$$$ than you would have saved on tax.

2. Go into the dealership and ask a salesman for a brochure on ther car you are interested in Telll him you have no time, now and ask for his card AND KEEP IT.
Take brochure home & read it. Check off the options you want.
Make a list.

3, Return & ask for the same salesman. Give him the list. Ask him to figue up what you'll cost will be, excluding Sales tax.

4. Always ORDER thr car !! Do not buy outta stock ORDER IT !
and I am NOT telling why, just do what I say.

5. Need Money? Dealers sell cars. Banks Sell Money
You would not go to a Pork store to buy Kosher Salami, Got It ?

Finance at a fiance institution!

Buy the car, but READ CAREFULLY everything on ther order and do not paY DOUMENTATION Fee
on the order blANK. THAT IS BUlL s_ _ _T

Before leaving in your new car, ask your sales Rep to introduce YOU to thr Service Mngr. This tells the Service Mgr that YOU are SPECIAL.
and for God Sakes, hand your salesman a $20.00 bill B-4 leaving.
The best 20 you will have ever spent.
Stay off highway wham bam 1,000 cars in stock kinda circus'es. Try to stay in in-town dealers with smaller stock and smaller inventories.
and do not ask me "Why". just do it. good luck tp all nu car buyers.

Sandy, fyi, you can't order a foreign car like a Honda or Toyota. I tried at several places. They would rather lose the sale. Dunno if it was because the cars were made in Japan or the US but when I mentioned it they wouldn't even discuss it even when we decided to leave. They would search the ends of the US for the car you wanted and you could deal away some of the small BS options you didn't want but it was tough.

Come on Sandy you got to say more then

4. Always ORDER thr car !! Do not buy outta stock ORDER IT !
and I am NOT telling why, just do what I say.

is a dealer trade bad too???

"We" are "in" the business; just as a gem cutter or an appliance store. However, unlike those, we take in TRADES. Customers expect us to pay them what they see their cars advertised for, in the newspaper! We BUY wholesale (or in a trade in case, we pay (or "allow" wholesale values to trades. Why? So we cn get outta the car in 30 days, if it doesn't sell.
We take it to dealer only auctions and dump it. Stats show ir it dowenn't fly away (sell) in 30 - it ain't goona roll. Time to get our $$$ back and sell.

So then, you, the customer are going to be allowed bottom feeder money BY EVER DEALERm

Better ? Call you bank. Ask them how much they will lend YOU for ___________(year make model goes in the blank, ). The amount they will lend you IS the car's REAL VALUE !!!

Put the car in the newspaper for the amount you would LIKE to get. Secret?
Secret is to GET THEM TO COME EYE BALL IT ! Tell them this, as it souns good:
"I will lower the price a bit, IF YOU LIKE IT. It sound "sweet" ~
When they come don not talk price. Show the car, point out 1 o2 ares that need attention (it shows that you are honest) and play up HARD the strenths. Listen to what the buyer says. They give off clues that will aid you in selling it.]
Worst case? You sell it for what the person at the bank tele call quited you.

If you trade it in you will never really know what you really paid for the new one, nor what you were allowed for your trade. It wouls be impossible to even have a clue.

"will lower the price a bit, IF YOU LIKE IT." It actually GIVES them an INCENTIVE to like it !! :)
