How about Carlisle ???
How about Carlisle ???
I am posting to see if anyone wants to try to put a group together to the Ford Carlisle show June 1-3 this year.
http://www.carsatcarlisle.com/events/ford-nationals/
I've seen it suggested for years here and we never do it, so I will go out on a limb and offer to make the arrangements for a field section, resturant cruise, or whatever other suggestions are thrown out there. How about if we pitch in for a section or two at the swap meet to sell some of our extras if so inclined?
I live only a few miles from Carlisle and frequent the shows so it won't be much of a hassle for me.
Email me at midman@comcast.net
I will keep everyone posted on this thread on the response.

I'd go, but I am too old 65) and too sick (cancer) to walk the 34 miles around to see everything and then have to drive home to New Jersey.
I will, however look at the pics, guys post on here ...afterwards.
Hey...better than nuttin' I would REALLY appreciate photos of OTHER ascMcLarens, if any are there and any 1957 thru 1975 Imperial pictures.

Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.

New Record
If the 3 of us bring our McLarens we've set a record already. Any others want to pony up?
If you have never been to Carlisle you should go at least once if you can. The Ford show is not as big as the Spring and the Fall event but as Sandy mentioned you don't have to walk miles to see everything either. And the Ford show is still a great show.
I will keep this thread active and get as many as we can to fly the Mclaren flag. Who knows the classic car community might even start realizing we exist if we do this at other events too.
Dwight I will call you this weekend.

I guess the problem becomes, at the show, we have Capris and Mustangs. Probably can't park together unless we can find a class that fits. I'll check last year's class listing to see if ther is any that would work.
Chuck - I will be out of town and out of cell range until Jan 7. I'll PM you when I get back.

I think we here in Mi have the record 6 Mclarens and 3 Gp'smidman wrote:If the 3 of us bring our McLarens we've set a record already. Any others want to pony up?
But anyway, trying to work it out so maybe 2 GP's will make the trip
Re: New Record
3 as a record? That's sad ... I can beat that without leaving my driveway. Although I'm made the trip to Carlisle before - the 7 hour trip took 9 and I'm not sure I want to put any of the asc's through that.midman wrote:If the 3 of us bring our McLarens we've set a record already.

It is sad but the last couple of years the only McLarens I've seen are one or two in the car corral for sale. Always verts, never once saw a Capri ( though I might have missed seeing one). And as far as Mclaren parts, hardly anything. Last year I found a guy selling a broken fogged rear lens cover for $150!!!! Now I know Henry's are $250 but at least they are usable.
Anyway whoever is able to bring a car they do have a division called "SPECIAL DISPLAYS Special interest - Factory Mods #115"
Entry of your car costs $40 and includes two passes for the show.

For budget stays the Super 8 Carlisle South is good, the Comfort Suites downtown is also decent but more money and you have to park in a parking garage (free with your stay).plumkrazy wrote:Where is a good place to stay? Or where are people staying?
Steer clear of almost every hotel North of the fairgrounds except maybe the Hampton Inn. The rest are dives.
Look at any of the Bed & Breakfasts, there are a few close to the fairgrounds and they usually fill up with all car people on the show weekends.

both classes parked together last year...in what seem to be the worst spot, away from all the later model saleens, roush etc.CocoLoco wrote:I guess the problem becomes, at the show, we have Capris and Mustangs.
