I keep my McLaren's battery disconnected when in storage. Every single time that I slip the battery cable over the post..... my trunk pops open !
Why you will not at least try that, I do not understand.

Battery issues/ Storage
Guys
You need to use Battery Tenders model 021-0123. These units keep the battery fresh and charged at 100% removing the battery cable is not good on the ECM , as it erases the data for the engine management system and could take a couple of days of different driving habits to gather new data. I have the Battery Tenders run from Oct-March Its also easier on the charging
system.

Re: Battery issues/ Storage
Just ordered one. I need this so bad. Thanks for the tip. Only $25! I got the Junior which is just to keep it topped off.capri50asc wrote:Guys

The "Plus" is just a faster charger. I have a full blown battery charger for that.

I have 3 battery tender JR.s, they work great. They also keep that battery from oxidizing the plates inside. My 03 Mach still has the original battery and its been on a tender most of it's life.
Just beacuse its small doesn't mean it takes a lot to get a dead battery going. I put it on my dead 5 year old Kmart battery in my 69 which had not been started for more than a year and was able to start after 1 day.
Charging a battery too quickly oxidizes the plates as well.

In your McLaren's compartment (s) inside the car in the compartments just behind your 2 bucket seats, do you see a thin plastic wire? If so, pull it. It is a MANUAL release to open the trunk.
