Are these Eurocoupes any more desirable by "the masses"? Lower production numbers but not as well equipped, correct?

I'm seriously considering taking this project on. Some one needs to save it...

If you can do your own body work, then its well worth it. All matching numbers, rare automatic and almost all complete.

Automatic was the norm, in the Euro-Coupes.
Few had Pwr. Door Locks. Mostly A/C & Automatic.
White was on the majority.

Hi all
I'm new to the forum. First post.

I may make a play for this car. Went to see it today. If anyone else locally has seen it, please drop me a PM. I'd like your thoughts.

Seems to me to be a pretty rare bird.
86
charcoal/charcoal (w/ grey piping)
auto
hard top coupe
all accessories (alpine with amp, radar, power windows)
orange wheels

Any idea how many of these were made in this combination? my understanding from reading here was that the EuroCoupes were not shipped with p/w, and grey cars were not shipped with grey piping nor orange wheels.

Discuss...

ditto. i would certainly like to learn more. i will place a call in to Sandy to see if i can get the "official" build info. for example, the original poster to this thread mentioned the Alpine radio was aftermarket. i don't believe it to be. I think it's a factory radio, with the amp located under the passenger seat and 6x9 speakers in the rear hatch area. my understanding was that only 20 or so would have been optioned this way, fewer in grey, fewer with a solid roof, and still fewer with an A/T.

to have the orange wheels would be strange since these were supposed to have been body color.

i also read somewhere that the spoiler was to have been painted body color on all greys, but this one is black (unless the paint wore off like the rest of the car)

finally, i also thought the EuroCoupes were not to have a leather wrapped wheel, but this one does.

again, any insight would be helpful.

OH DEAR

1. All asc/McLaren COUPES had Grey cloth interior

2. ALL Mercury Capri cars had power windows as standard equipment. (Power Door Locks were OPTIONAL.)

3. All 84 85 & 86 Merc. Capris had "RADIO DELETE" from FoMoCo but....had the factory Antenna and all needed parts for a "Snap-In job, at ASC.

4. Alpine # 7272 was used.

5. EuroCoupes HAD the leather wraraped steering wheel TOO !

6. Exterior paint colors for coupes:

Dark Blue
Silver
Dark Grey
Black
White

So, of the 11 Grey EuroCoupes made, how many were autos if there were 9 automatics all together ? And how many of those had solid roofs (no T-tops or pop-ups)?

Also, I read http://www.ascmclaren.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=3597 that all 1986 cars had red piping on seats, is that not the case?

Also, from your E/C VIN list, this was car #16 and was not a Northtowne L-M car. Correct?

sorry, i don't know the lingo, by "option extension" you mean the ability to connect the # of one option to the # of another option.is there a build sheet by car? YES

NO !!! ALL MC LAREN COUPES HAD GREY SEAT PIPING...EXCEPT F0R THE EURO-COUPES, THAT RETAINED THE OEM RED PIPING.

Exactly, this is a Eurocoupe with grey piping. Did someone swap the seats?

Also, I can see this may be frustrating to you, but it is very helpful to me as I decide whether or not to make an investment in this car.

Exactly. I figured you couldn't really know that unless it was a production anomaly of some kind or a special order where ASC changed the seats before selling the car to the dealer.

I can't for my life figure out why anyone would swap the seats if the rest of the car is bone stock.

Maybe it was done at the dealer? Is there a way to find out what dealer owned the car?

Things that I am now losing sleep over....hmmmm....
