I looked into this car and almost made the trip out but it needed too much structurally (rusty floors etc) for me to get involved. The owner appears to be very knowledgeable and had at least 2 other (maybe 3 other) coupes in very nice condition. I'm not saying that anything was removed or swapped but when there is a 4th car in relative junkyard condition anything is possible which might explain the seats or any other discrepancy's.

I saw all of his other cars. The collection is quite impressive to say the least. He has 2 other blue Capris, 85s I think. But the interior on this one is the best of the bunch. It also has the best spoiler (arrow straight compared to the others). I think he's just run out of space, and I believe him, because he certainly has the financial wherewithall to restore the car.

Also, the floors aren't that bad. 3-4 holes, but it comes with new complete pans. Either a total reweld, or a patch, but you're using the right sheet metal. I've had 2 MGBs, so this floor work is nothing in comparison.

There is a little bubbling on the door bottoms, where outer and inner panels meet. I think it's because the inside of the doors need cleaning and the windows need new felts. Worst case, I could find Capri doors off a donor somewhere. The car has to be painted anyway.

Aside from those spots and the obvious paint work, it seems solid.

I am not a Fox body expert, but I know enough to be dangerous. I'm about 95% there....Finger on the trigger.

Do it man! They aren't making any more of these!
The rust didn't seem bad at all, just more than I would be comfortable tackling. If it won't be perfect than I wouldn't bother. Some one needs to save this car, well it's already been saved. Some one just needs to restore it.

Good luck with it!

There are a few of us here in Michigan that would go look at it. Don't be afraid that is in a winter state- it could be really nice car.

I haven't looked at it. Just been thinking the vert needs a mate

I'm not about to ask you to drive 3 hours r/t to look at it, but if you find yourself in Belleville in the next 3-5 days, snap some pics.

No, not an option, really. More like a government restriction.

85s tended to have the 85MPH speedo. 86s got the 140mph one. The 140mph speedo wasn't available until very late 1985 or 1986 I believe.

Many of us have swapped the 140MPH speedo into the 1985 cars.

Mike, I was not aware of that. Good to know.

If that one in belleville has all those rusty panels I cant imagine the strut towers dont have issues. nevermind the floors
