Discoloration under rear of convertible top

Post by dndzol »

My ASC is white and there is a yellowish/brown discoloration on the white tuneau cover where it meets the back bow of the top. Is there a good way to remove this? It looks crappy when the top is down.

if the paint isn't rubbed off, Try just regular quality wax and some elbow grease. if that doesn't work try a cleaner wax with very light pressure in a small area to see if it comes out. Also, like Sandy says, dont tighten the top to far down on the cover. leave a bit of space so the rubber doesn't make contact. Anybody else have imput?

ALWAYS when putting top UP, and it's time to push the button that pulls the big fat aluminum screw down into the hole on the tonneau, push the button with left hands finger and put right hand finger UNDER the hem (bottom 0f the top), the part that sits (touches) the tonneau. when ya feel the material tightening upon your finger.......... STOP Leave enough room to roll a cigarette or standard pencil freely underneath the roof's bottom hem.

Paint

Post by svo413 »

I"ve seen newer ASCs with a clear plastic film over the paint in that area. Not sure if they started doing that at the foctory. Another idea would be to clean and lubricate the weather stripping.
