Rear Shock Tower brace

Post by 86MclarenCapri »

I ordered the rear shock tower brace before I fully understood the reinforcement that ASC did to the car. But, since I had it, I went ahead and installed it. I have an 86, so I figured ANY stiffening would make it ride better.

the cool thing is that it fits under the top and does not affect the top storage when down.

I had to do some major grinding to get the ends to fit. They probably should be welded, but I will get around to that eventually.

I'd add the front apron reinforcement too. About $60 and you can feel it working. Bolts on underneath so you don't see it.

I;m not familiar with the front apron reinforcement... I have the K-panel reinforcement (not installed) and I have installed the front shock tower (to cowl) brace. That made a HUGE difference!
