86 top issue

Post by Denbob55 »

Hey all,

I"m the last guy who should ever own one of these Marc-based ASC convertibles. I'm all thumbs. I haven't driven my 86 for so long I forgot why I had the top up even though in a heated garage. It was because the tonneau won't stay down. I then recalled my old mechanic mumbling something about jamming it closed. So today it was supposed to be warm with no rain, so I unleashed the top and pushed the A pillar switch and it popped. But with the top safely tucked away into the back the tonneau won't relatch. Peering into the square hole on the back deck I see some broken clear plastic screwed towards the top of the opening and something broken and clear plastic near the bottom of the opening that looks like the big plastic screw. What do you think is going on? I'm thinking I have two issues - one with the screw mechanism and one with the tonneau latching. For now I dragged a big tarp over it, but have to get it fixed by tomorrow. Help is greatly appreciated. A call or txt if you're bored to 724-four62seven228
