Is that the case, even if it needs a pricey paint job? You noted that the grill and headlight surrounds are the wrong color (indicating at least a partial earlier paintjob, which may not have been of the highest quality), and the seller says that there is hood and trunk are fading noticeably.

I'm getting ready to fork over the cash for a good paintjob on my Capri, and the thought of having to face two of them is rather daunting.

. . . which way do you go? This one in Ohio has a lot fewer miles, the better door panels and the more attractive "1MH" VIN.

If you dicker with the guy from Ohio make him knock $2k off the price if he can't come up with the original wheels. Hopefully, he's still got them.

There's no excuse to toss original asc wheels.

...and it's worth at least $11,000. I have seen far worse sell for $10,500. Regarding the other one, I misunderstood which one you were talking about. The OTHER one I would not go over the $5,000 as you yourself did indicate.

I would consider the low miliage one from Rochester NY that didn't meet the reserve with the highest bid of $6000. A paint job is going to run you $5000 if done right, so add that to the price of any car needing one.

Just my thoughts.

Why? The other one would probably sell for $11,000 or so, needs nothing, is a 1MH car, has the Premium door panels, and it's correct all the way around, X-cept for the wheels, which are darn close to OEMs. The OTHER one was a no sale at what? >>> $4,000 (I forget) and add paint and ??? whatever else, and it's STILL not a 20,000 mile car, bone stock correct example, and you're at over $9,000 and it was a no sale at the $4,000 so it might go for $5,000 + paint, and there's your $10,000....

I couldn't find the details on the Rochester car. I guess I liked it better because it didn't have that $9K price tag.

Some questionable things on the Ohio car.
After market plug wires
Afermarket radio
wheels of course
Misaligned steering wheel
Poor fitting top
No windshield wipers
Cruise control listed, hard to see if present and what type
Tonneau cover sticking up, misaligned?

These are a lot questions for a 20K mile car and wanting top dollar for it. I know because I have an 84 with 21K and if I ever sold it I would want top dollar.

For a person who does not want to restore a car, buy the best one you can afford because it will cost you more in the end to fix it.

I don't mean to ruffle anyone's feathers and it is just my opinion. I thought I would comment since I had considered upgrading to a better car.

I e-mailed the seller of the Ohio car for further details and he did not provide very many. I will try to hit him up for some more, based upon the questions in the previous post. Here is what he has written so far:

Hey. I've had it just over one year. Original paint job. No problem with top. No leaks. I have not made any repairs, but don't have any papers on prior owner. ASC wheels are original and come with car. Thanks for your inquiry.

He makes it sound like the wheels that are on it are original, when they are not. Hmm.

Ok, here are his latest responses. He seems to think that the wheels are the originals. I can't fault him for that, as I would not have known the difference a few months ago either.

It's really a (very) decent car. Okay a few little glitchs here & there, but compared to waht I've seen out there most of this year (2004), it's more than very decent. Read my reply on the other thread herein about this topic. $881.00 will do it!
