Safety standards

Post by ascmclarn »

I was driving to PA this past weekend and got to thinking about how acs was originally thinking about upgrading the brakes on the car and didn’t because they would have to pass crash testing. How did they not have to pass any test when they cut the roof off and racked the window back? Or did they not have any sort of test for this in the 80's?

For Convertibles There Is No Such Strength Test...They're Convertibles. Had it been a convertible & they installed a top On it, then..... yes.

you would think that there would be some sort of standard to have it hold the weight of the car if it flipped over, but i guess that isnt much of a concern?!?

I think that even the feds are (or at least were) willing to accept the notion that if someone is going to drive a convertible, that person effectively assumes the risk of being maimed or killed in a rollover accident.
