132870 was the 55th of the 65 built for 1990. Jet Back / Black Roof / Scarlet Interior with Automatic Transmission. Dash plaque noted installed was 1901. Thusly making it the second one of 12 "Silver Anniversary Editions" that actually never were built, as per the program.

This was a dozen cars ordered at or near the very end of production that were to be "Silver Anniversary Edition" commemorating 25 years of American Sun Roof in America. 1965-1990. All of the 12 were ordered in black with scarlet interior, except for one that was ordered with Regatta Blue interior. All cars were to be fitted at ascMcLaren with light grey (Silver) convertible tops, making them silver-on-silver with Scarlet interior. (1 car was pre-sold and buyer wanted the blue interior, thusly, one car was made with the blue.)

FoMoCo got wind of this and had their ever active lawyers rush off a letter to asc,essentially saying only Ford is allowed to celebrate Mustang's 25 years. asc countered with "but we were celebrating OUR 25 years in business" to which Ford said, "Not on OUR product" ~ The special series dash plaques had been installed BEFORE the cars were converted to "mark" them seperatly and then parked outside with the rest, but in their own little group. A front fender badge was also being made up that woulda gone where ford put the 5.0 badge, normally.

It was eeeellloooonnngggaaattteeeddd and said
"Silver Anniversary Edition"

But the order was cancelled for the badges. None were produced.
None of the Silver roofs were delivered, either. They did make an
appearance on and are STILL available for 2006 on the Mercedes-Benz 4-Passenger caonvertible, where they are called "Ash".

So, your was car #2 of the 12 set aside to become this.
I have car # 5, Dash Plaque # 1904. It has a black top.
