I'd say his red 89 is worth around $ 18,100
I have been offered $20,000 for my last one made blue '90
with 2,037 miles. I turned it down.

1989 Mclaren - Is it worth it?
The answer to the question is yes, I believe it is worth the amount he is asking. But I tell you what, watch Barrett Jackson at the West Palm Beach show on the speed channel and we will see how much one of these is worth......lol. I am taking my 1989 ASC/Mclaren to Barrett Jackson at the end of March and it will be in the prime running on there. This will open up the market for these cars and I betcha after this auction everyone will be looking for one. My car is Black with red interior and is a convertible with 5012 original documented miles on it. It was owned by the Local Ford Dealership owners wife here where I live, and he sold it after she passed away and the car was hardly driven at all. It is one heck of a car!!!! I am expecting this car will sell between $30,000 and $50,000, if not more, so all of you people out there with low mileage cars be watching Barrett Jackson at the end of March. I have paid $1000 for a prime spot on Saturday evening. Heck, maybe this will be the buyers choice car to figure a price on.....?????? Maybe so. I forgot to mention that my car is #99.
Thanks, Jeff Hutcheson

Oh ya, I'll definately be watchin' with my 2 1990s.
Last year, out in Scottsdale, Az. a dealer from up north (I think Mn.) brought the next-to-last 1990 made, an automatic with illuminated keyless entry & Whistler Radar and 8,100 miles flawless condition, but with a telephone antenna (and hole) in the rear fender and it brought like $14,580. It was black over black with red interior, Automatic. Dash Plaque 298.

In 2004, there was a modified 86 vert that sold for $27,000 at B-J.
http://www.barrett-jackson.com/auctionr ... ?id=177295
B-J is a place for multi-millonares to on up each other. Prices are through the roof there. Here are some examples:
$108,000 for a 1970 Mach 1 428SCJ
$127,000 for a 1970 Boss 429
$156,000 for a 1965 Mustang, modified by Boyd (as seen on American Hot Rod)
$221,400 for a 1969 Z/28
$513,000 of a 1970 Chevelle SS454 LS6 Convertible
Unfortunately, these auction prices don't really have any effect on 'real world' prices.

Re: 1989 Mclaren - Is it worth it?
That will be a prime time to run it and i asume Barrett Jackson is mandating a no res auction? and if it sells for a good bit less than you expect are you going to be ok with that? I wish you good luck on getting your target # but i personnally do not feel these cars are at this range any time soon but i guess we will see truley good luck there! Should be a blast for you i plan to go myself in next year or so! I think i have seen your ASC before either on ebay or mayby your web site?prezautos wrote:The answer to the question is yes, I believe it is worth the amount he is asking. RARE-ASC's point is well made. This will certainly be a good test case for the cars, considering the excellent condition of this one, as well as the venue. Good luck.

Why then did this one, the next-to-last unit made, with both options, Whistler Radar & Keyless Illuminated Entry, in a popular color combo, fail to even break fifteen thousand, with low low mileage ? (Driven under 800 miles per year) !!
