That's THE one ya wanna buy ! It looks terrific, is ULTRA rare, a mere 12 were made in this regularly available color "Gunmetal Metallic" in the only year it was available, 1988. It was also a LATE ADDITION in 1988, and all 12 have the exterior mirror design of 1989/1990 and they are electrric, rather than manual remote. The seats would be 2 tone grey or "Light & Medium Titanium Grey, and the roof is black cloth. I've seen a few (3) before, but all 3 were pretty much trashed. THIS is THE one ! Wish I could get it, but outta car $$$$$ and out of room!

Yea, thats what I was thinking. You rarely see this color. I haven't seen one of these in person, I'm wondering how close it is to some of Ford's latest "charcoal gray metallic" colors they've had the last 4-5 years, which are really nice. BMW makes an awesome charcoal metallic for their 3-series cars.

Sandy, about your side mirror comment, I have #688 (which was #208 of 1015) and it has the newer style mirrors. Actually I've seen quite a few '88s with the newer mirrors, I don't think they are as rare as one might think.

Anyway, this one is 1 of 12, you'd have exclusivitiy. If I get another ASC I'm leaning toward black or that royal gold.

What I meant to to convey was that all 12 of these HAD those mirrors, and it was the only color in 1988 in which 100% made had those mirrors.

This is your car, 4-get black or gold! THIS ONE !! Stand out from the crowd ! Nobody's gonna say "Oh WOW, a Red One!!" But this one will stop 'em cold!

'Ya, that "old 86" needs 1 muffler & I can't find a NOS to save my a.s.s. Gonna have to go with aftermarket. Darn. Oh, and that 688 miles is getting up there. I can still remember when she had 300 miles, way back in 1996. Time flys.

Oh thats terrible Sandy! Having to put on an aftermarket muffler thats probably much better than stock, oh the humanity.......

By the way, I haven't heard the story. Where/How did you find an '86 Mclaren with 300 miles????? Was it in a museum?

Here are pics:-

I ordereed it brand new, and have kept it brand new. Plastic paper "Thank You" mat from dealer, windshield wipers & steering wheel still factory wrapped from FoMoCo. Mileage is 688 at present. All service work by dealer & all records kept, all paper wirk from FoMoCo & ascMcLaren, too. Car's driver side muffler has a hole & I need a new one. Had a couple of lines on one, but they all fizzled, so, I'll go ahead & buy a factory original "copy" ~ nothing else I can do. The pipes are fine, but will need to be cut to install replacement muffler. No rust anywhere on her, never once in rain. Sits in weather tight (non heated garage under a car cover.
