Oh 'ya, I sweated it for a while, but when I got my wife to come down & help I could see the problem. The screw was only off from the hole about 1/6th of an inch, and those covers will "stretch" 1/6th - inch. After a few moments of real worry, they gave in and fit tightly and perfect.
The screw on the car's side, the single one in the middle...do THAT one last, and whatever you do....DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN, when she starts to protest, and is "snug" S*T*O*P ! The jerk at asc actually put my driver's side one ON with a small leaf inside, stuck between the "ribs" of the red lens or the taillamp! After 7 months, it got to me ! Start at the license plate alcove top/or bottom ... didn't matter, and work your way over to the single one on the SIDE of the lens. You'll need a helping hand, besides your own 2. When, with open palms your gently push inward on the cover, and place palm-over-palm still pressing inward, firmly but not too hard, the plastic fans out around the side and (well, in my case) the holes will line up.

Yeah I think mine was farther off than that...it didn't appear that it would go...Sandy wrote:Oh 'ya, I sweated it for a while, but when I got my wife to come down & help I could see the problem. Oh ya...I forgot that. We did it in the summer & it was a super hot day, and I put the lens down flat on the grass in the sun's rays for like 15 minutes.

Mike I carefully used a torch to heat them up...I measured and fit a million times before/while I was "tweaking"...
After I trimmed the bottom edge of the drivers side rear cover all the holes lined up perfectly...
However, the right side needed major help. I had to heat and bend the bend more so it would line up better. I also had to open open up 2 of the holes slightly. Then I used the below spacer washers I got from home depot to cover the now elongated holes. I powder coated the washers black because the silver stuck out like a sore thumb...I think the black looks much better...I know it's not factory but I think it's the best solution and no-one but us will know the difference...
This is the spacer before I powdercoated black...

Hope this helps...

I like it, too. Under hood could win its own trophy.
I really like your car! Visually, I do admit to missing the
correct rims ... the orange ones, otherwise it's a real
piece of eye-candy and a winner on the drag strip.
My car bows to yours!

Yeah...I miss your orange wheels too.
Does the Eastwood kit come with clear powder coat?
I have some $$ form an inheritance coming due in May...we're going to build a small out building (10'x12') and maybe I can send 220v out to it and wedge an old oven in there or something....

The standard kit only comes with black. There is a "deluxe" kit that comes with I think 3 additional colors of your choice...and they DO have clear...although I heard it yellows but I don't know that for sure.negusm wrote:Yeah...I miss your orange wheels too.

They also have thermo lights for curing but they are expensive...
I think a media blasting/powdercoating business would be so much fun...thought about doing it but thats as far as it went...lol
