just removed my set from the 85 vert... bfg comp t/a's... 75% tread remaining just hard as a rock and begining to dry rot on the outer edge... said to be the originals but I have no clue

Mike, that glossy card Re: 1986, it has errors on it. It's 90% correct, but 10% wrong.

Whats wrong:-

Its print date was Oct. 1985. It shows 2 models
Standard & SC. Not true. There was just 1 model + options.

On that sheet, pertaining to the SC 's options, there is NO Automatic
Transmission listed, as it IS listed under the base model. Making it somewhat look like Automatic was not available on the up scale SC model.

In the end, the SC name was laid to rest, and ascMcLaren 2-seat Roadster was used in print.

The listed options are correct as shown

I didn't read as saying there were 2 models available, I took the 'base' vehicle comments to be about what came with a Mercury Capri (the base vehicle for the asc vert) and then it's saying what asc added on top of the base.

The top group:
Am Fm Stereo / Casette
Premium Sound
Power Door Locks
Air Conditioning
Speed Control
Automatic Transmission
All had to be ordered from FOMOCO, as a dealer-order
All of these could be ordered on either a 6 Cyl. OR a V-8

The ascMcLaren installed options were:
Recaro Seating
Whistler Radar Unit
Performance Decor Package
ascMcLaren Premium Mats
140 Speedo (I think the Speedo was standard on V-8 cars,
and extra cost on 6 Cyl. models.)
