The 1986 Coupes. excluding the cars ordered to become EuroCoupes, all came off the Ford Motor Company line with the Ford made/provided "plug".
A ribbed plastic piece that fit nicely into the area where the radio would be. The piece snapped in with "female" receptiles. It was ribbed in the front, (the part visable). EuroCoupes came with Ford Stock Am Fm Stereo/Cassette. However, in the very beginning several EuroCoupes came (in error) with no stereo & with the same plug. Later EuroCoupes had the Ford Stero/Casssette.

Yes, I forgot about the Eurocoupes.

The 86 plug Sandy refers to is the radio delete panel often seen on the SVO comp prep cars.

"" Oh...if you see a FOMOCO radio in the car...it really isn't supposed to be there. ""

Mike, I have seen 3 1986 EuroCoupes with the Ford normal for the time period AM-Fm Stereo with integral Cassette Player & the normal Ford applied rear seat (cargo area) dual speakers.

Got the reflectors shipped, and quotes to everyone.....I am still working to get these radios tested......anyone an expert or have their car apart? Here is what I am looking at. Both the 7164 and 7272 have this extra harness coming from it, all I want to do is test that they work, but don't want to burn them up in the process. Can someone help explain to me what I am looking at here. Thanks

7164 has harness, harness with plug, and what appears to be a ground.

7272 has harness cut for splicing and 2 harnesses with plugs. Anyone know what this all goes to?

Luckily, my 86 5.0 Capri has the radio pulled right now, but is any of this able to be hooked up without the corresponding plugs on the car harness?

wow, the back of the 7164 isn't what I expected...where are the speaker wires? whats that proprietary plug?

This might change on me wanting that radio so don't pack that bad boy up yet, I expected a 4 speaker wire hook up on the back side.

Gonna research this one out unless a reply shows up here first.
I am glad you posted those pics!

looks like standard radio colors

the funky looking plug should be the antenna. yellow wire + acc red wire hot all the time. the rest speakers. black ground.

mike has the manual for thease things on his web site i think.

I will check his site for the maunal too, but that funky plug isn't the antenna, thats over to the other side of the radio.

I think these are a 2 channel headdeck powered and the din plug goes to an amp.

No, that black round plug with the many posts in it is for an amp. You can buy an Alpine amp that will take that plug directly. Ignore this if you don't have an amp.

The small wires are the speaker wires and the power wires. I can pull my 7263 manual and see what the wires all are. They should be the same as that one.

It says in the Alpine manual on my site that the 7263 is a 2 speaker radio. I thought it was four. I'll have to check.

For the 7272, it has that greenish plug which probably can go to an equalizer and/or a sub woofer:

In that picture you can see they were trying to sell all sorts of things to go with the radio. Hence the extra hookups.
